Can you point to the place where anyone said that? Or is this one of those “I’ll exaggerate to accuse you of exaggeration and broad brushes to accuse you of broad brushing” dealios?
What logic? You’re spewing gibberish. BUT THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU WORTHLESS: it just means you’re being a dumbshit right now.
Watch this: “This person says absolutely nothing of worth.” See? I can write those words if I want to. The fact that I didn’t write them before isn’t because I’m incapable of writing them. It’s because THEY HAVE NOTHING WHATSOFUCKINGEVER TO DO WITH MY BELIEFS.
jsgoddess, you still sticking with the Burger King defense as the dumbest? Because I think we have a late-breaking contender here.
First, I allow for plenty of latitude. When I say he said something racist and should consider not saying it again, I’m not saying he’s the reincarnation of Satan crossed with off-brand Hamburger Helper. I’m saying exactly what I said: he said something racist and should consider not saying it again. No more, no less.
Second, that has fuck-all to do with Trump’s re-election. If I wanted to take a page from Trump, I’d call for his imprisonment and claim that I’d won this thread by three million posts and then I’d brag about sexually assaulting him. Turns out I believe in treating my opponents with a great deal more respect than Trump does, which yeah, might mean my side loses again; but I’ll not stoop to his level.
It seems to me if a cat is wearing shoes and a shirt, it ought to be served. Great, something else for me to be outraged about.
Yeah, but they almost never have any money.
I’ll admit they’re at least poor tippers.
I’d rather have the cat.
I think that’s in part because you are the right generation. This board has a weird conservative bent in a certain way: we have to fight for liberal ideas that are less than 30 years old. Being barely over 30 myself, I find myself treating the older stuff as a given, and only arguing the newer stuff.
That said, it’s rare these days that there aren’t other people in the thread making the same points I make. In fact, nothing I said in this thread contradicted anything said on my side before then. Heck, I was just giving an explanation for the claim made by someone else.
I fail to see anything controversial about what I said. It’s true just in general. One individual’s understanding of racism is not relevant to whether something is or is not racist. Only in aggregate does it matter.
And people who have actually had experience can add to that aggregate, while people without any experience and are not relating the experience of others don’t really add to it.
And, yes, this argument is in fact often used by racists. If they don’t think something is racist, that’s supposed to be mean it isn’t racist. But it doesn’t.
And the rest of what I said was just repeating what had been said before me, but in this new context. Because that’s often what I do–try to express the same idea that people are rejecting in a new way, in hopes they will understand.
If not, no big deal. I tried. If they think it makes things stupid, what does it matter? They can bring up why it’s stupid, and then people on my side can deal with it.
Hell, they can even make me a scapegoat, while promoting the exact same ideas I did. That happens quite often, too.
Well unless your name is really SIAMESE Sam, let the cats be outraged on their own behalf. Otherwise that’s speciesist cultural appropurriation. Or something. My outraeg buzzwords are all outdated by now.
Okay, now I get it.
More in the BigTurd Lecture Series.
It’s not about age, you twit. I’m 60 and consider myself a liberal. It’s about leaving your mother’s basement every once in a while and not having your viewpoint shaped by TV and the internet.
Can you explain to me how he got the third nail in? Also, are basement ceilings typically tall enough to accommodate crosses?
It’s a standard jab at any food or place you want to deride. In many parts of Asia, people believe the steamed, meat-filled bun call sio-pao is filled with cat meat (they then call it miaow-pao.) A math professor explained that, given the cat population in a city, and the volume of pao’s being eaten, the imputation is an impossibility.
This appears to be an ongoing thing in South Korea.
46 dogs rescued from meat farm.
The Humane Society and other rescue organizations have been rescuing dogs intended to be used for meat and flying them to the US to be adopted out as pets. 800 dogs have been rescued in the last two years.
cochrane is right! It’s not about age. I’m in cochrane’s age group, and I agree with BPC that BigT’s posts are among the more consistently reasonable and accurate on the board. Because the differing perceptions of BigT’s contributions *aren’t *about age or politics; they’re about two main things; whether you belong to the clique which thinks the “BigTard” meme is kewl or are persuaded by that group, or whether you read the posts as contributions to a particular thread subject.
I have yet to see anyone in the former group who’s contributed anywhere near the number of worthwhile posts as the object of their disdain. Like Trump voters, that group (however they consider themselves politically) is apparently averse to being lectured, even when they’re presumed to be peers of the lecturer. . “BigTard” = “libtard”. Poor snowflakes.
Keep sloughing off their comments, BigT.
Yeah, right.
Your mileage may vary, but I think BigT is a bloviating, clueless asshole with absolutely nothing worth contributing to discussion. It’s not about belonging to a clique and being kewl. BigT shuts himself away from the world, but thinks he’s an authority on all and sundry. He needs to get outside more.
People don’t call him “BigTard” because it’s “kewl”. They call him that because he’s an obnoxious jagoff. (And wow, people don’t like being lectured? Ya don’t say!)
Wow … so much concern over my poop … I’m touched … please carry on …
Oh good. You and your ellipses are here, making incoherent but vaguely hostile comments. Yippee.
