Has anyone else given it a try? I thought it was a little uneven, but I liked the casting and the production is solid. I would definitely give it a chance if it gets picked up. It’s funny how long it took to get a Bosch movie or show; who would have thought his characters Terry McCaleb (_Blood Work_) and Mickey Haller (_The Lincoln Lawyer_) would get movie treatments first.

Apparently, Amazon’s stategy is to toss out a bunch of pilots and make the ones with the best feedback. I would have preferred Bosch going to a network that believed in the project and wanted to produce it.

I watched two of the other pilots: _The After_ was laughably awful but _Mozart in the Jungle_ showed some promise.

I read in a review of “Bosch” that Connelly recently got the rights to the Bosch books returned to him after years of development at Paramount.

As a reader of the books, I liked the pilot, but I don’t know if I would feel the same if I hadn’t read the books. Knowing Bosch’s backstory helps.

I feel the same way, and I’m glad they portrayed Bosch the same way he is in the books. A wise-cracking, “I don’t play by the rules” Bosch would be very disappointing. That’s why I’m happy with the pilot; let the whole backstory play out.

Still, like I said, I wish a network like AMC had picked it up for a whole season.

I loved the pilot on Amazon. I also thought Mozart in the Jungle looked like it could be pretty good, as well as The Rebels about a fictitious pro football team that is run by cheerleader wife after her husband dies. If any of you watch these pilots, I hope you’re going to rate them at the website URL given at the episode.

I ( a reader of the novels) saw it and liked it. My wife (who has never read them) hated it. She asked “am I supposed to sympathize with this guy?”. Without the internal dialogue from the books, it’s harder to convey Bosch’s good points.

I would liked to have watched it, but due to “restrictions from our content providers”, the service is only available in the US. Way to go Amazon - restrict your own product (that presumably you want an audience for) to one country. Not like you have to negotiate rights with another company for this one 😕

Have you tried the Chrome extension Hola?

But yeah. Why do this through Amazon Prime? Even with a free trial available, it doesn’t seem like a great way to attract an audience.

I’ve never read the books, either. I enjoyed the pilot, but I can see where your wife is coming from. I just assume he’s got some good points in there somewhere and if it goes to series, I’ll find out what they are then.

I just watched this tonight. I’ve never read the books, but I really liked it.

Any word on when new episodes will appear?

Available for streaming in [February, 2015](http://www.michaelconnelly.com/extras/bosch-tv/).

[Teaser trailer.](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4rEAtpW1fw)

Now that I’ve finally watched _The Wire_, I’m excited that Marlo Stanfield is playing Jerry Edgar and Lt. Daniels is Irvin Irving.
