[Apparently, Michael Crichton died ‘enexpectedly’ today and had been privately battling cancer.](http://www.etonline.com/news/2008/11/67369/)
Thanks for the books and the movies. _The Andromeda Strain_ and _The Terminal Man_ really inspired me as teen, sorry to see him go.

He was one of my favorite authors back when I was a kid. Everything up through Timeline (how he managed to screw up a TIME TRAVEL book is beyond me, but I lost interest in him after that) was great and I always looked forward to seeing how his novels (which at the time were written to be READ, not turned into movies) would stack up on the big screen.
