Michael Jackson Dead

During *Jeopardy! *a State Farm commercial came on with the J5 singing “I’ll Be There.” What bonehead didn’t think to pull that?

Speaking of Bruno, one reporter who saw the movie last night said that there’s a scene where Bruno is harassing LaToya Jackson and trying to get Michael’s phone number from her.

I’m guessing that scene will likely be cut before the film goes into wide release.

What did the woman say to Michael Jackson at the beach?

“You’re in my Sun”

OK, OK, RIP Michael. I still have *Off The Wall *somewhere.

With CNN online in the background, I was searching for a famous quote to put here.

Then Larry King said exactly what I was thinking:

“You didn’t want to love him, but it was hard not to.”

I scanned the major US newspaper websites, all the online TV sites, and all the broadcast TV stations, the BBC and even Al Jazeera.

They are all hip deep in the Jackson story.
Who else could have stopped the world like this?

He stopped, He’d had enough.

I can’t blame him, I’d fake mine to avoid his concerts…

Seriously though, sorry to hear the news, but I’m hardly surprised.

I really really hate to add to the Snark Quotient of this thread (already at dangerously toxic levels), but…

That out of the way…

I don’t know what kinds of demons drove him to do the things he did. He basically had the world on a platter, and proceeded to piss away his looks and his popularity for unknown reasons. He had a sad life-nothing else more to say really.

This may end up being like when Elvis died. He’s the only person I think could compare, manic-fan wise. That is Elvis and Madonna, but I think Madge is turning herself into jerky, so we shouldn’t have to worry about her for a while.

He was talented, while I appreciated a few of his songs, I didn’t really understand the mania. Then again, I never do.

Apparently the real Michael Jackson died about 20 years ago.. This one was an imposter.

Holy crap that didn’t take long.

I loved Michael Jackson. He got really weird but he was a huge part of my growing up.

I bet even people in India are grieving over him; they loved him over there.

Oddly, that was one of my first thoughts too.

If he hadn’t been such a sad, weird figure over the last 15+ years, this would have more of an effect on me. He hasn’t been the King of Pop in a loooong time.

I feel bad for thinking that his kids might have a chance to grow up somewhat normally. Who gets custody if their biological mother has given up parental rights?

Born in 1975, so I was young enough to know of him, but never got into his music or hype (Van Halen’s 1984 was it for myself and friends).

I do remember everyone had to have those medal pins on their hats like him. Oh, and cabbage patch doll backpacks… anyway…

I always thought him a talented artist with issues. I also always assumed the charges against him were overblown or false due to his freakishness in later years (no one can be this weird, oh, he molests kids too? surely you jest).

Anyway, I am sad for him, though I never was a fan.

Really? I didn’t have any trouble at all not loving that child abusing fucker.

Yeah, but Elvis was never a kiddy-diddler.

Similar except Madonna isn’t reviled by as many people as Michael Jackson. Her worst quality is social climbing primadonna bitch, and that just doesn’t even rate next to ‘crazy pedophile’.

I think I’d be sadder to hear that Madonna died. I’m not particularly sad that Michael Jackson is dead. To be totally honest, I am somewhat relieved. I know that’s not how I am ‘supposed’ to feel about it, but that is how I feel about it. The guy was a tormented mess and a danger to children, his own as well as those of others. I hope that his kids get a saner life with their Mothers who won’t keep them locked up behind burkas.

Well…he did meet Priscilla when she was 14 or something.

Ditto here. In fact, thinking about that led me to post this thread about him a year and a half ago.

Never thought he’d kick off so young, though. Damn.

ETA: Wow, how apropos was Argent Towers’ post in that thread?

I really disliked him,but still feel sadness. RIP MJ

I always felt sad for him. He was the wrong guy to be rich and famous. He could not handle any of it. He led such a strange and twisted life.

From here: King of Pop is dead at 50

Law enforcement sources said that Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide detectives have opened an investigation into the death, though they stressed there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

I’m guessing suicide.
