I think Michael Jackson is/was HUGELY overrated. I know billions of people disagree, but I just never saw the appeal. His music was run-of-the-mill 80s pop, and you could attend any high school chorus performance to find better voices.
Obviously I’m no fan, but my sense is that he was NOT a child molester. He was profoundly weird to the point of mental illness - utterly lacking insight and self-awareness. But I have no trouble believing that his only sexual deviance was complete asexuality. The boys who conveniently came forward in adulthood to allege that he molested them had come to realize how their sleepovers with Jackson looked to the rest of the world and that they could cash in. IMO/YMMV.
WRT “batshit crazy,” my take on it is that “batty” is colloquial/slang for “crazy,” and the “shit” is added as a modifier/intensifier.
