I actually agree with most of what Moore said, sort of. But C’mon, there is a time and place where making statements like that is appropriate, and your thank-you speech at the Oscars isn’t it. Wear a dove pin, thank your mother and lawyer and veterinarian, and go sit down while we enjoy the rest of this mindless entertainment. They didn’t give him the stage so he could make a political speech. Whatever his views, he was rude. ---

**LCC** , since when do you have to just say what everybody wants to hear to be a hero? I’m with **WaryEri** , he was right on at least one point, but he should stick to putting his opinions in public speaches and documentaries, and leave them out of his oscar speach. **KSO** , that was set up better, something like “Oh, something beautiful is happening backstage. What’s so damned inappropriate about speaking up at the Oscars. The Oscars are completely unimportant. it’s a trivial, meaningless masturbatory excercise. The only way to inject any importance into them is to totally hijack them with political rants. A big “Fuck Bush” is great to hear in the middle of a crapfest like this. Who the hell is Adrian Brodey, btw? ---
