Canada, alarmed by its agressive neighbor to the South’s alleged WMD, declares the _Martin doctrine of pre-emption_ and launches an invasion on the United States.

Hmm…I bet you Moore would be up for that. Is Alan Alda still acting?

Sure he is but I hear John Candy is currently unavailable.

Just count me in as another “What could the sequel be about?” 😕 Doper.

Well, there _was_ that PIPA study showing that a majority of Bush voters were misinformed and/or didn’t realize Bush’s stance on policy issues differed from their own. The notion that Bush voters == misinformed is not wholly without merit.

Actually, I wanted to see what he’d do with the health care industry, as he had originally planned.

Let’s give Moore some credit – at least he’s willing to face hostile crowds and talk to his critics, which is more than you can say for G. W. Bush…

C’mon. It’s tough.

> No doubt about it, it’s tough. It’s hard work. It’s incredibly hard. You know why? Because an enemy realizes the stakes. The enemy understands a free Iraq will be a major defeat in their ideology of hatred. That’s why they’re fighting so vociferously\*… There’s a lot of hard working people out there… It’s hard work… And now we’re fighting them now. And it’s hard work. I understand how hard it is… I see on the TV screens how hard it is… It is hard work. It is hard work to go from a tyranny to a democracy. It’s hard work to go from a place where people get their hands cut off, or executed, to a place where people are free.

So it’s hard. And apparently _you_ don’t understand that. 😉

\*WTF? I suppose all fighting is, in a manner of speaking, vociferous. Unless it’s done by ninjas or mimes.

I’ve never quite gotten the absolute hatred of Moore. People in the Pit wish death on him all the time, and even the mods look the other way. He may only have a passing aquaintance with credibility, but I believe his basic points are largely, if not wholly, truthful. And he presents his ideas in an entertaining and easy to watch way. I enjoy his style. And he uses it to poke fun at a president and administration that quite frankly bring it on themselves.

If he does Farenheit 9/11 1/2, he’s got my 9 bucks. And the 9 bucks of most of my friends.

There’s lots of other subjects to make documentaries about, even if you only want to stick to counter-culture, progressive causes.

::cough cough sarcasm cough::

Just keeping it lite. This is CS you know. I would like him to make movies on different subjects. Maybe even direct a documentary that he is not in.

> My peeve with moore is that he is becoming way to extremist. He’s already decided that Bush’s second term will be a disaster. I somewhat share the same view though it is possible that the second term of this administration will be better than the first. Will Moore change his documentary if peace is established in the Middle East? Likely not.

I think Moore is pretty safe from the consequences of peace being declared in the Middle East. It hasn’t happened in the last 50 years, even if Bush does everything right, I doubt it will happen in the next four.

Moore has made a name for himself as a critic of the current administration. Since I doubt anyone will claim that Bush will do nothing worthy of criticism in the next four years, I’m sure Moore will find some (a lot) of stuff to talk about in his next film. If your looking for a clear-eyed, measured, balanced analysis of Bush, I wouldn’t hold your hopes to high for Moore’s next film.

I’ll go see Moore’s next film because, while they almost always are hamhanded and deceptive (though funny) in targeting the main villian (Roger, Charleston Heston, Bush) of the film, they also always have something else to say which I find provoking. So I’ll roll my eyes during the next film when Moore points out that nobody knows where Bush was on the day Kennedy was shot, but I’ll still go because I’m interested in what he has to say about people in this country.

And because regardless, I’m sure it will be funnier then whatever American Pie sequel will be coming out that week.

You mean Bush might take _more_ than [500](http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&contentId=A62524-2004Apr8&notFound=true) vacation days in his second term? 😃

For me, it comes down to a couple things:
1)His repeated insults of the country I love. He has said on the record, many times over, that he hates America, thinks Americans are stupid and has warned other countries not to become like America.
2)He has lied and misrepresented reality times beyond count and, when confronted with it, has defended himself that his films are just “comedy.”
3)He has no problem getting in the face of his betters and criticizing them, but acts like a real prima donna when it’s done to him.

That about sums it up.

Yes, there are enough Kool-Aid drinkers to make his movie successful, and I know people who went to see it simply out of curiosity over the controversy.
I don’t have a scientific study to prove my statement, but I do have anecdotal evidence. A few months ago, I went on a vacation across country and I often wore my “Michael Moore is a big, fat idiot” T-shirt.
About half the people who commented on it asked me “who’s Michael Moore.” Half of the rest laughed or said “Where can I get a shirt like that.” I had a grand total of one person look at me with a faint frown of disapproval (in a Virgin Records store in Orlando).

Well, he said in a speech in Germany that “Americans are possibly the dumbest people on the planet.”
In England, while promoting Dude, Where’s My Country, he said in a speech: "You’re stuck with being connected to this country of mine, which is known for bringing sadness and misery to places around the globe.”
In an open letter to the German people in Die Zeit, he said: “Should such an ignorant people lead the world? Don’t go the American way when it comes to
economics, jobs and services for the poor and immigrants. It is the wrong way.”
Here are a few more of his quotes:
"Should such an ignorant people lead the world? How did it come to this in the first place? 82 percent of us don’t even have a passport! Just a handful can speak a language other than English. "
“(T)he dumbest Brit here is smarter than the smartest American”. – Michael Moore At London’s Roundhouse Theater
“DO YOU FEEL like you live in a nation of idiots? I used to console myself about the state of stupidity in this country by repeating this to myself: Even if there are two hundred million stone-cold idiots in this country, that leaves at least eighty million who will get what I’m saying…” – P. 85 of “Stupid White Men”
