Michael Nesmith deserves credit for country-rock

Just as an aside - I noticed there is a new cartoon on (Nick?) called Planet Sheen. One of the characters is a talking chimp, that gets upset whenever the main character (Sheen Estevez - it’s a spin off of Jimmy Neutron) calls him a monkey. He always wears a wool cap, and his name is “Mr. Nesmith”

I think Nesmith is great and I absolutely adored Elephant Parts. I’ve often wondered how successful his albums would have been had they not had titles like:

Loose Salute
Nevada Fighter
From a Radio Engine to the Photon Wing
Infinite Rider on the Big Dogma

P.S. - Nesmith is looking surprisingly respectable these days.

Oh, wow…he looks like Ben Stein!

Hey, hey, he will always be known as a Monkee!! Whether he likes it or not…but “Different Drum” is a great song. He’s a great song-writer.

He was lucky to be left millions by his Mom’s business in “white out”. He had the money to leave the Monkees behind. Not so for the other three.

Wait - what? What do you teach and to whom? Sounds interesting.

Nesmith’s proto-MTV project was called PoPClips
