Michael Schumacher in coma after skiing accident

I think this was the biggest revelation for me. A decent helmet is really is far more comfortable than any other fabric hat I’ve ever worn, It also makes a better seal for goggles and is makes their straps more comfortable for extended wear (either up or down). Even if it offered me no additional protection I’d still wear it.

Lots of sources (including the BBC) are reporting that he was skiing off-piste.

FWIW, the Daily Mail has pictures of where the accident “is believed” to have happened.

Technically, that’s off-piste in that it’s outside the groomed. But it’s directly under a lift and within 50’ of a trail. When I think of off-piste I generally think of much further from civilization but it clearly has rocks and other hazards. Conditions look pretty awful though, not something I’d ever consider skiing. Not sure why anyone would go in there.

 Really?

I have several pairs of skis (minus large edge segments) hanging on the walls that can attest to the saying, “Its the rocks you don’t see that get you.”

I was expecting something “different”. More like Mott Canyon, The Wall or something.

Last I heard, there was some slight improvement that allowed a second surgery. Good to hear.

Godspeed!

A bit of an update. Let’s hope he continues to recover.

Reports are he is out of a coma and moved to a hospital in Switzerland!

Hooray!

In a world of constant bad news, this is nice to hear. Hope he recovers well and isn’t too fubar.
