> I don’t think someone who is that faithless and dishonest should be President, or should be admired. I think you should have character. I’m surprised that someone without character or integrity managed to do a decent job. But then again, events weren’t all that challenging and he really didn’t do much, did he?

The thing about people is, they’re complicated. You might be a jackass in some areas of your life and highly competent and admirable in others. Clinton’s personal life does not necessarily have any relevance to his ability to be a good president. Also, there’s a distinct possibility that he and Hillary had an agreement. No way to know, and it’s really none of my business, nor yours either. I’d say the same about a Republican president who had an affair, as long as he wasn’t touting/trying to legislate family values for others. Even then, it wouldn’t be the cheating that bothered me, it’d be the hypocrisy.

But Michele Bachmann? Batshit crazy. That is relevant to how she does her job.

If we could be sure she wasn’t, somehow, when she stepped into her Congressional role, I guess that would be ok. Like if she snorted a big hit of anti-batshit and it snapped her into sane mode for a couple hours or so, well, maybe. It would have to be the pure, uncut anti-batshit…

If the media had a “liberal bias”, they would have spent more time covering George H. W. Bush’s [years long affair](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Fitzgerald) than they did Bill Clinton’s tawdry little tryst. Instead, they had some sort of “gentleman’s agreement” to keep Bush’s affair quiet, contrasted with “All Monica, All the Time” coverage.

He is by this leftie. In fact, I totally agree with just about everything you say in your post #135.

My god, I agree with Carol Stream in the Burris thread, and now I’m agreeing with you? I think the sky just fell.

When the topic of the Clinton marriage comes up, I remind my friends of all the “odd” arrangements we’ve known in our happily married friends. Including several who had the “go out and screw around, then tell me about it in great detail” dynamic and a few who had the “makeup sex is so much better” dynamic.

Hey, any time. Though if you are concerned about your dog, we can probably just ride the L train back and forth a few times. Plenty of vampires there, and I bet all of them are in fact liberal.

Just a little maintenance here and there, and it will last a life time, chugging away, cleaning up the mess that your fancy Hoover won’t touch, much less handle. Sure, it doesn’t have the fancy new ‘vortex’ bagless system, it’s industrial green, and has got shit all over it at the moment cause the last guy didn’t clean it up when he was done. It ain’t always pretty, but it delivers on what it promises and gets the job done.

So you accept that the way the GOP operates is to fill itself with muck and sewage and spew it out at selected vessels? Welcome to our side!

> I recall an editorial cartoon from the Clinton years: Homeowner says to pollster: “Well, I think the lousy, lying, cheating, womanizing, pot-puffing draft-dodger is doing a good job.”

That was my attitude to Clinton. He was elected on a platform of “It’s the economy, stupid” and delivered (or appeared to deliver - the degree of influence the President can have on the economy is always debatable). I did always secretly hope that behind the scenes Hillary was regularly booting him hard in the groin for his indiscretions, but he was doing the job I voted him in to do.

You are right of course. It isn’t specifically earmarked from the LV LA maglev train. So it’s quite possible that it will go to Harry Reid’s _other_ high speed train pet project that’s been on the table for 25 years, that just happens to cost $8 billion.

Or it’s quite possible it means what the words actually say and the process of allocating them is as also specified. In the absence of any evidence beyond yahoo innuendo.

> The Dems are a glitzy slick, floor model, always selling the sizzle and missing out on the steak. You always just need the next, new, and bigger model to actually get anything done. It can handle small messes alright, but the motor starts whining and complaining when the job gets to be too big. Ultimately, you just stick it in the closet and leave it there after being disillusioned, cause the warranty expired, and you can’t get replacement parts anymore. You occasionally take it out when a long enough time has passed that you’ve forgotten all the little nuances that made it such a pain in the ass to use. You quickly relearn, though, and put it right back, shaking your head in disappointment.

No, actually, they’re both shit Hoovers. The Dem one can’t decide whether to suck or blow, the GOP one has just rounded the bend to being ideologically committed to blowing at all times.

This makes more sense if you anthropomorphize appliances.

Um, does anyone really think that a high-speed rail across SoCal would cost $8 billion by itself, & that if it did, that’s where we’d run it instead of, say, anywhere else?

Sure. We spent twice that to build a couple of tunnels in Boston.
**Sinaijon** , is that the current Republican approach your favorite blowhards are trying to sell?:dubious: Blame all of its failures (it has no recent successes) on Bush, as if the rest of the party had actually been \*fighting \*him every step of the way? The shit isn’t there from “the last guy who used it”; it’s there from \*every \*guy who’s used it, ya know? And it isn’t necessarily just a coating, either. The whole thing could be made out of shit; you can’t tell otherwise from the results.

The evidence, btw, is that you really are dumb enough to buy it.

Had an SO, had a washing machine that shook like Malaria, Nicaragua in an earthquake when it went to “spin” mode. She liked to sit on top of it. I saw the problem in the belt, a little squirt of WD 40 and it was humming like a top.

I didn’t understand why she was pissed at me. I mean, the soft guys, go figure!

See, now you’ve finally exposed elitist liberal self. Squirting WD 40 on a belt? That’s gonna make it slip more! You needed to tighten the tension pulley.

You fabricated that entire story, didn’t you!

I will make you a bet \*_Sinaijon_. Reid’s project will not get more than 5% of the $8 billion. Yes, that is a lot of money, $400 million, but it is still only 5% (or abot 1/10th of 1% of the entire stimulus package). I would not be suyrprised if it got ZERO, but it will probably get something. So let’s go for 5%. How does $25 sound?
