There was a thread on this that disappeard in the crash. A couple of suggested casting choices Elrond - Elton John Galadriel - Janis Joplin Think of the music! Rivendell Rock I remember when earth was young, All we elves had so much fun, Slayin’ kin and smitin orcs, Had a magic broadsword that would glow in the dark! But the biggest kick I ever got was doin’ a thing called the Rivendell Rock While the other elves were fightin’ round the clock We were hopping and bopping to the Rivendell Rock! Galadriel’s Lament Elven just another word for Nothing left to lose and nothing, that’s all Sauron left me. But feeling good was easy back when Sauron had the blues and feeling good was good enough for me even though I’m living stuck in a tree I believe **Fenris** has some excellent contributions to that thread. ---

I would **REALLY** like some independent verification on this. For some reason it seems very far fetched to me. I can buy that the Beatles would have liked LOTR, but I think that they wouldn’t have got so far along in the process that J.R.R. Tolkein would have had to nix the idea. Seems mighty close to April Fools day to me. Is Jackson or Mccartney pulling our legs? Or is it CNN? Nevertheless, it is a good story, and kind of funny. ---

This was mentioned in a recent television biography I saw on the Ovation channel, and is briefly refered to in several Beatle biographies, among them THE LOVE YOU MAKE by Peter Brown. It doesn’t sound like this idea ever went beyond the talking about it stage. ---
