As I mentioned above, I tried making real popcorn (as opposed to the microwave packets), with poor results. It seemed to come out overcooked and overly chewy (al dente), yet a substantial number of kernals were left unpopped. I couldn’t see anything wrong about my equipment or technique. And it was a well-known reputable brand of popcorn. My best guess was it might have been old or something.
Ah, but you’ve missed the main point (insert SDMB rally cry) “I can make it cheaper and better myself!”
And yet . . . As I noted in the post just above, I haven’t been successful at that yet.
I hear ya. I like MV popcorn and have it frequently. Heck, I’ve been known to tear into a bag of Trader Joe’s pre-popped. Yumm.
