# Middle Earth: Shadow of War

Can someone give a brief rundown of the gem system for Me? I assume it is similar to the runes from the last game. But I’m not quite getting it. And reading the dry guide is the last thing I’m really in the mood for with 4500 beers in me and ork-blood lust.

Also, do you not get xp for killing dudes now? I’m like 100 away from levelling up, murdered like 50 orcs, and still at my same xp. Tho that was during a mission. Dunno if that makes a diff.

In the previous game, you’d get like 10-50 or so for every goon. (Btw, as of last month, I was ranked 61st for the trial of War challenge on the old game. SadToast666. so I knew a thing or two about getting points)

You don’t get exp for killing dudes, only doing quests and events. Oh, killing captains also gives exp even if you just run into them in the wild. The gem system is fairly straight forward, red adds damage, green health and white gets you more coin drops.

I haven’t bought this game (yet) but the last couple of posts sound alarming–did the rune system go away? Are there no longer neat-o powers I can add to my weapons?

Yeah, no more runes. But instead you just get better gear that you can pump up with gems.
