Much is made in an episode of _Sherlock_ over John H. Watson being embarrassed about his middle name being Hamish. (Conan Doyle never gives his middle name; it has been deduced to be Hamish, the Scottish Gaelic form of James, because his wife calls him by that name once in the stories, which was probably just an error by Doyle.) ---
