Prisons would likely be only temporary holding tanks, prior to imposition of the actual sentence. "

And there are plenty more. Google “Reconstructionists debate stoning vs burning” or “Reconstructionist death penalty” for a start.

Not necessarilly but most of the quotes provided seem to be sensationalist, tabloid-style “taken out of context” quotes.

> [@](#):
>
> I used to read the [Chalcedon Report](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalcedon_Foundation) magazine put out by Rushdoony’s successors. Seemed mostly innocuous, but they very culturally conservative Calvinists with some pretty drastic extra-Biblical ideas about government. For example, R. J. Rushdoony thought any tax above a ten-percent tithe to the church was heinous; I’m not sure he knew what alms were, nor cared about modern economic theories like Keynesianism & monetarism.
>
> It’s not hard to see how that sort become fellow-travelers of Objectivists & old-fashioned corrupt plutocrats; they all hate the state in general, & especially the welfare state. I put **nothing** past Calvinists/Presbyterians/Reformed Churches.

About 2/3rds of Presbyterians are as liberal as the Anglican Church nowadays-marrying homosexuals and etc.

But its true that Rushdoony and the other reconstructionists are laissez-faire economically largely because they feel “confiscatory taxation” is immoral and akin to theft and prefer charity to operate.

> [@Locrian](#):

Erhm the term for any sort of opposition or “bigotry” against homosexuals is not racism…

> [@](#):
>
> And religious devoutness certainly DOES have a HUGE correlation with racism (I doubt your Mikey-boy hangs with Jews a lot.), more like misogyny with him and his women denouncing comments. A baptist priest, former or current, is closed minded, period. Mikey’s comments only help to prove this when he has already expressed numerous times that he is not interested in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all. If you’re not a christian, if you’re homosexual, if you’re female, you deserve less. That’s his platform.

Actually Huckabee may be quite pro-Israel, certainly more than much of this board. And your statement “A baptist priest (sic), former or current, is closed minded, period” proves you to be a stereotyping and religionist against Baptists.

All those quotes come from secularist websites with of course, an agenda against Reconstructionists. No similar quotes have been found on Gary North’s website or the Chalcedon Report website.

And at any rate, I’ve spoken to Reconstructionists on the Internet and most agree their society will not happen unless the majority of the population actually support their views (ie as in Massachusetts Bay Colony) which isn’t happening any time soon (I believe one theonomist calcuated it would tens of thousands of years for their society to be established).

You didn t read any of the quotes, did you? From the sensationalist, tabloid style Reason Magazine; "On ultimate goals: “So let us be blunt about it,” says Gary North. “We must use the doctrine of religious liberty to gain independence for Christian schools until we train up a generation of people who know that there is no religious neutrality, no neutral law, no neutral education, and no neutral civil government. Then they will get busy in constructing a Bible-based social, political and religious order which finally denies the religious liberty of the enemies of God.”

Fundamentalist Christians believe that if all the Jews return to Israel it will bring about the Second Coming. I’ve emailed an Israeli Huckleberry supporter who wants the money and doesn’t give a flip about his politics, while admitting Huck is an idiot.

Curiouser and curiouser. Huckabee says the GOP shouldn’t be quite so hung up on NPR and abortion, and should cut a deal to avoid a U.S. government shutdown: [http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/08/huckabee-to-gop-make-a-deal/](http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/08/huckabee-to-gop-make-a-deal/)

Which proves to show Huckabee 1) is not a dominionist and 2) is fundamentally a “nice guy” politician in the mold of Eisenhower or Willkie. If anyone is to be compared to him its William Jennings Bryan.

Paul, perhaps. 🙂

I’ve lived in the state where he was governor. The parole incidents, the violation of church and state, the “love offerings” (gifts to the governor which is the property of the state) that he took with him when he left office, the destruction of harddrives his staff used, and it is scary that anyone would support this self serving guy who lets religion guide him in matters of governance.

Don’t know that there was a word for it, but IIRC Catholics in Elizabethan England got a dispensation from the Pope to lie about their faith in order to move into positions through which they might undermine the Protestant government or even assassinate the Queen.

Right. He’s just pretending to run as a Republican candidate year after year because he likes the color red.

You sound like the folks on the right wing political sites who were screaming about how the hutaree guys were actually liberal socialists, and calling them right-wing extremists was just a smear campaign.

Huckabee is a Republican, and a conservative.

There is a ton of cites and links in this thread to back up that statement. Do you have ANY links or facts to back up your assertion?

Well from [this video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vklb9Wed8B4)you can clearly tell he’s against medical marijuana, although he doesn’t really give a reason.

He doesn’t really strike me as the compassionate type.
