If you read that clear and very understandable explanation and apology, and your reaction is mock and make fun? Yeah, you’re just being a dick for your own amusement.
I get people lashing out at others to vent. I get people defending themselves by various means. But glee in being able to hurt someone? Fuck off. You’re not worthy of anything clever or entertaining.

@Stratocaster the interpretation is not very difficult. Beck is extremely thin skinned and really should mute the Pit completely. She is exceptionally poor at hearing criticisms.
AND the broad agreement is that she has still heard them over time and improved as a poster. Many participants here enjoy her contributions she has learned where they belong and where they do not, mostly.
The Pit is a place where you are free to be an ass. Congratulations on exercising that freedom to its full extent! Happy 250th!

You know, this board has really patted itself on the back recently for its banning of Transphobia, Gay Bashing, Random Misogynistic posts (childish boob and pussy jokes).
Maybe our next focus should be on just common decency to other members of our “community”. Give people a fucking break now and and then.

Jeepers, I picked the wrong time to go on holiday - things got cray-cray, from what I can see here and the companion ATMB thread.
While I have the thread subject on ignore and that isn’t going to change, the people complaining about her strategy in this thread, in ATMB and here, are hardly covering themselves in glory.

The other irony here is that – I’d allow, _unwittingly_ – you just admitted to a double-standard, one which – IMHO – is at the root of the “soft bigotry of low expectations” at play in this dynamic.
Which – as I _would_ argue, and _have_ argued – I believe to be a poor and deleterious standard to maintain on the SDMB.

I rarely reach for the insults, even in the Pit, but I’d like to associate myself with the insults that others have hurled at you.
And I think their experience with you is far more extensive than my own.
