Why would I? I don’t have anyone on ignore and I have no plans to change that. I find the lot of us, and how we squabble, help each other out, reinforce each other, exasperate each other, and otherwise interact to be most enjoyable. Hell, there are very few banned posters that I don’t wish were still around. My panties aren’t in a bunch at all. Crap, I’ve had my say. Dishes and cat poop, here I come. ---

I’ve said what I had to say way up near the beginning of this spin-off thread (post #9 if anyone cares). I’ve returned to express my astonishment at what is now 145 posts mostly comprised of content-free whining about a blameless poster mainly being accused of making content-free posts. Along with a surprising number inexplicably spewing anger and indignation. No one has claimed that **Beck** is a saint. The pertinent fact is that this board is an important creative and emotional outlet for her, as someone with serious health problems who usually doesn’t even speak IRL, and many of you are acting like vicious schoolchildren who haven’t yet learned the quality of empathy. To paraphrase a bit of old wisdom, the true judge of character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you. This has multiple meanings here. **Beck** loves animals. She adopted a stray cat just because she felt sorry for it, she adopted a stray dog and turned it into a loving companion, she even befriended an opossum and fed it treats. But also consider that expression in the context of how we treat our fellow posters, those from whom we have nothing to gain and, on the contrary, maybe have the ability to rack up some in-group brownie points by bashing them in Pit pile-ons. We do have occasional jerks on the board, and they deserve what they get, but not everyone we disagree with is a jerk. Indeed, how we behave in the Pit can be quite revealing. this was well said wolfpup. I don’t often read Beck’s posts because their often crippling banality is a tough read for me. But the spitefulness of some posters on this thread is the moral equivalent of kicking a dog on a leash because it sometimes barks at you as you walk by. Better to just ignore it. ---

I’ve been depressed and mildly appalled lately over how much of my time reading Dope posts consists of simmering outrage toward He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and his latest vile antics. I don’t read Ms DaWrek’s posts, consider them in the HHGTTG category of “mostly harmless.” So why has this very minor cluster-spat gone on for more than 150 posts, and why have I spent the last half hour reading it from start to finish? I think it might be displacement – I can’t stomach _one more word_ about DJT so am looking for some milder diversion – and I realize this is not at all healthy and I should, as @CairoCarol has said, get off my butt and go clean the catbox. Anyhow, it crossed my mind that displacement (i.e., something else to be pissed off about) might also be the reason for a lot of the posts in this thread, apart from any of Ms DaWrek’s perceived transgressions. Maybe we should be cutting each other a bit of slack in these very fraught times.
