Generation Xers are in our 40s and 50s. I’m flattered I’m still “young people”, but…I mean, I’m on the young side of Generation X, and my college roommate’s daughter is starting college in the fall. I’ve got friends who have grandkids. ---

What **Cap** said. I want to believe I’m still 25[sup]\*[/sup], but I’m two decades on from that, as my hangovers keep reminding me. My kid will be old enough to vote in the next presidential election (and is only missing this year by three months). I am not the “young voters” that need engagement. [sup]\*[/sup]and that I still have a shot at Heathers-era Winona Ryder. Or Christian Slater, not picky. ---

There is nothing more pitiful than a bunch of political consultants with six-figure incomes, bow ties, and degrees in political science who think that they’re being really hip and edgy. This ad is a perfect example of that. Also it’s hateful and bigoted in its portrayal of old people. After watching it, I feel more included to vote Republican than before. ---

I found it useful. It essentially sets the upcoming elections as Boomers vs everyone else. I’m cheered it includes Gen X - my cohort - but it’s really aimed at folks younger. [According to Pew](http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/07/31/millennials-and-gen-xers-outvoted-boomers-and-older-generations-in-2016-election/ft_17-08-01_millennialvote_2-1/), Gen X voting topped overall voting percentage for the first time in 2016 at 63%. It’s the larger, millennial voter that we have to boost to effect changes. In 2016 it was only 49%… Boost that to 60% and it’s game on for those who support student loans and opposed some form of national health care. ---

Unless you can imagine a video that would make you not vote or vote for a Democrat, I don’t think the effect the video has on you is super relevant. As someone in my mid-30s who has voted in every election since I was legally able, I have always been baffled that young people don’t vote. I dunno. I’m guessing everyone who takes time to participate in the Elections forum already votes. Will this video convince people who don’t vote to vote? No idea. ---
