I have never gone to an SDMB event before, but I think I would like to attend. I will have to drive in from the 'burbs, and will likely miss part 1, but would like to do parts 2 and 3. I am normally a bit of an introvert, though, so I feel funny not really knowing anyone, and I don’t have anyone to bring as a date or anything. ☹ On the subject, anyone ever try a Pixie Stick martini? Gin, vermouth, and Midori. The sweetness of the Midori cancels out the gin taste - it is really quite tasty (gets you schnockered quick, too, but it’s not a cheap drink!) ---

First things first – I know Dinsdale’s gonna yack, but that Pixie Stick thingie sounds derrrlicious. Don’t feel funny about coming! Just me saying that isn’t gonna help much, I know, but I promise you that the regulars are super-nice. Except for porcupine, who is as prickly as her name suggests. Oh, and me, I’m a complete asshole. Dinsdale’s kind of a dick, too, and Hamlet is what you’d call “special”. But the other people? Really, really nice. Also, a date would be a bad idea anyway. We eat those people alive. ---

**dropzone** A burb Dope would be even better, but I don’t mind hauling into the city. I am in a Northwest Burb - I can walk to a Metra station from my house. I would rather not post anything more specific, but feel free to drop me an email and I’ll tell you. If my user name didn’t say so much about me IRL, I wouldn’t be quite so touchy, but I have been stalked before - not that you would (I might enjoy that). 😉 Still, better safe than sorry! I would rather not have to move right now. I don’t think the kicking will be an issue, but I have been known to scream once or twice. At my son, that is - where was you mind!? 😛 I know you are married from the [match.com](http://match.com) pit thread. I wouldn’t want to get you in trouble. I am pretty sure I will be there on the 31st. ---

Right now it looks like I will be at all three parts of these festivities. And since I am fresh off the heels of the NYC Mega Dope Fest, I have some input from those who were at the NY fest and some ideas about stuff that worked well. **chrisk72** , let me tell you a story. Once I was like you. I was new to the whole ChiDope thing. I was a little apprehensive about meeting people from an online bulletin board. Would we have anything in common? Would they be big dorks (bigger than I)? Would there, in fact, be alcohol and nudity? I was happy to find the answer to all three questions is a resounding YES. ChiDopers are a good crowd. Very fun and cool people and very good at making new people feel comfortable. ('Cept for **Dinsdale**. He’s kind of a dick, from what I hear.) You should definitely show up on the 31st. And if there’s ever a BurbsDope, that would be cool too. I live right off the Hillside Strangler, so making it to the NW burbs is no problem. ---

Actually, I seem to remember **Zanshin** remarking, back when we had the ChiDope Lunch Bunch thing a year or so ago (first SDMB event for both of us as I recall), that we all looked surprisingly normal. That probably just means that we hide it well, but I promise we’ll be nice. We don’t bite, unless requested politely. At least I don’t; I can’t really speak for the others, especially with all this talk of German whippings. But that was **Gundy’s** idea.
