# Mini-Dopefest in Washington DC?

I just found out that my husband is going to be in DC next week on business and he wants me to tag along. I’d be available to get together with anyone interested on either the 15th or the 16th. That’s next Tuesday or Wednesday, which I know isn’t optimal, but it’s when I’m going to be there.
We’re staying at the Crystal City Hilton, and that’s all I know. Anybody familiar with the area who might have an idea of a good place to meet up on one of those days? I won’t have a car, but the hotel is walking distance to the Metro, which I assume I could figure out how to travel on although I never have. Or maybe Cyrstal City is central enough and has some possible meeting places?

When Opalcat was here in December, a bunch of folks met up with her at the California Pizza Kitchen in Pentagon City (one Metro stop up from Crystal City).
Typo Knig and I would be up for something either evening 🙂

I can meet up for dinner on Wednesday the 16th.
As I recall, Pentagon City is a long walk from Crystal City, but definitely walkable in good weather.

I love to walk. How complicated is navigating the Metro, anyway? I won’t have a car and will be on my own all day Tuesday and Wednesday. I wanted to do some sightseeing – in particular, I want to spend at least one full day at the Smithsonian.

Metro’s not _too_ bad. Check out the system map at [http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm](http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm). And the Smithsonian is extensive, so pick a building or two.

Oh, I know. I wanted to do the American Hostory bldg for a full day, but it’s closed for renovations. So I’ll do the National History & the American Art building. Then I’ll do some other stuff the following day. Is the Library of Congress worth a visit?

Bumping to keep this on the front page, and confirm: Tomorrow (Wednesday) the 16th, 7 PM, California Pizza Kitchen at Pentagon City.
Jess - to get there via Metro, there’s a station right at Pentagon City. I _believe_, though someone else should confirm who’s been there more recently via Metro, that there are two different ways you can exit the station once you get through the toll gates. One leads to the Fashion Center at Pentagon City - you go straight into the food court area of the mall itself. You’ll want the _other_ exit, which basically brings you up on the other side of the street. I think you have to go out onto the street (well, sidewalk) when you come up, and the CPK is quite near there.
