When they went to spin off their consulting division 4 years ago, the proposed name of the spinoff? “Monday:”. They paid some image consulting firm some millions of $$ to come up with that. I believe the colon was considered quite important. (it actually may have been, I speculate that they could not have trademarked just “Monday”). The employees were saved from the embarassment of that new name a few weeks later, when IBM bought the entire consulting division. Phew!!! ---

But now it turns out that the streetside water cutoff valve for my _house_, which I spent an hour finding with a metal detector and another 20 minutes digging, has a pentagonal valve stem. Fuckers! Now I have to buy a special tool, resort to kludgery, or call a damned plumber, just to replace the 70 year old packing in the basement cutoff valve. If I had me some damned Spinach, I could turn the thing by **hand**! :mad: ---

Yeah, it’s bad when somebody throws trash in the back of your pickup truck. This happens to me very rarely in rural areas, but is more common when I drive into a city. It’s the ones who toss their trash on my property that really cheese me off. The driveway to my ranch meets up with a smallish state highway a couple miles from the local high school. It appears kids like to park there and drink (and whatever). I’d find beer bottles, food wrappers, and once even a condom wrapper when I’d go out to get the paper in the morning. Yet another reason I moved last month. ---

This fucking tool running for congress in the state below has this political ad “they come across the border unchecked, while some amount of state kids don’t get health care they’ll get some amount of tax paying benefits, but I’ll stop them and punish people who hire them.” or some such. Fucking racist greedy tool doesn’t however say he’ll get those kids health care. So now the immigrants get sent back to somewhere they obviously really didn’t wanna be and those kids still don’t get health care. How does this help anyone? How about instead of failing basic logic 101 he he just start charging the immigrants taxes and use the new revenue PAY for the health care for those poor poor kids who \*were obviously so victimized by those malicious bastards evilly looking to feed their families. \* Now I could see a case for that based on enforcing the law, but other then a lame appeal to emotion what the fuck does an insufficient safety net have to do with immigration policy? ---

[/QUOTE] I’ll see your PwC and raise you a Banco Santander/Central Hispano (aka BSCH), born when Banco Santander ate Banco Central Hispano (which had in turn been born when Banco Central ate Banco Hispano). And of course there’s Banco Bilbao-Vizcaya Argentaria… Banco de Bilbao ate Banco de Vizcaya and then the resulting monster ate up Argentaria, thus freeing Banco Postal to become a part of Deutsche Bank and… As a mere engineer, I watch this kind of thing from the sidelines, but I swear, sometimes the banking business looks like PacMan on steroids. ---

I know this is petty. I work at a place with 12 employees. Every person that has left in the past few years has gotten a going away party. My last day is Friday (can’t work swing shifts and take care of a new baby. I really tried though.) and no mention of any party for me. It actually kind of hurts that they’re just forgetting about me before I’m even out the door. Our old boss would have given me a party. ☹ ---

And to be honest, I’d just make a party if it was me. I would have just asked the boss, and I would have put it like this - “Hey boss, everybody’s been busy lately and since I’m leaving that’s not going to change. What I find even more infuriating is that the worst offenders seem to be people that drive trucks and SUVs. Aren’t those things built to handle rough terrain? I’ve literally seen one of these fucknuggets slam on the brakes to cross a _crack in the pavement_. They ought to have their vehicles confiscated. ---

I drive a pretty large pickup with heavy duty shocks, and I can’t take speed bumps any faster than abouit 10 mph unless it’s pretty heavily loaded. Not a problem during the day - I’m usually hauling around tools and construction matierals, but I try not to take them home with me, since the truck bed is open and I can’t often secure them. If the truck is empty and I hit the bump with any speed, I’ll bounce my head off the ceiling of the cab. To be honest, I’d rather hold you up for four seconds than bang my head. Sorry.
