Attendees: **Satan** **Canthearya** **rubes** **FreakFreely** **sandyr** **Lucretia** and **The Lucretiettes** Setting: **Satan** and I arrived at Joe’s Garage at just about the appointed hour… Everyone but **Lucretia** was sitting at our rooftop table, sweating in the 84-degree with 55% humidity weather. After some conversation (see below) and macking out, **Lucretia** showed up sans **Bluesman** but with her 9-and-11-year-old daughters, dubbed **The Lucretiettes**. Beverages: Miller Lite, Rolling Rock, pineapple & Malibu, ice water, coffee, and 6 (count 'em) screwdrivers ( **rubes** , you LUSH!) Food: Brunch Fare! We’re talking scrambled eggs with spinach and parmesan, wild rice omelettes, cajun pork chops, apple smoked bacon, turkey sausage links, herbed home fried potatoes, french bread with butter and jam, SWG (strawberries, walnuts and gorgonzola salad), chocolate mousse, and Joe’s Ice Cream Sandwiches. Miscellaneous Discussion: a) People: **DrainBead** , **OpalCat** , **UndeadDude** , **pldennison** , **Phaedrus** , **silo** , **aha** , **manhattan** , **Shirley Ujest** , **UncleBeer** , **Wally** , and of course **Cecil Adams**. b) Subjects Covered:[ul] New York City Swedish Immigration Policies Making our server, Sara, into the honorary **Silver\_Fire** **Satan’s** “Good Witch” (AKA **DrainBead** ) and his ex-girlfriends, the “Bad Bitches” Smokin’ Zyban The definition of flaming How did you find the SDMB? Squicking vs. Felching **rubes’** glow-in-the-dark cars and his future presidential bid with his running mate, **Satan** The post you most regret **Satan** the Young Republican Ginger vs. MaryAnn - Who would you do? Rush Limbaugh vs. Teddy Kennedy - Who would you do? [/ul] After\*\*: **Lucretia** and **The Lucretiettes** headed out a little earlier than the rest of us. Many photos were snapped and many hugs were given. **sandyr** headed off to Dayton’s and I piled the guys into my car… A discussion of current music trends ensued and was continued all the way to the airport, where **Satan** was dropped for his flight to Charlotte, then **FreakFreely** was deposited at 74th and Lyndale in Richfield and **rubes** , who wanted to continue the party at the Mall of America, was dropped off last. I thought it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I had a blast… I hope everyone else did too! ---

I, also, had a very good time. While Lucretiette number two never really recovered from her bout of car sickness and so wasn’t especially thrilled, Lucretiette number one was intriuged by the whole thing, and declared that she wanted to start posting. I told her she had to wait a few years. I can’t expect Satan to censor himself all the time! (Though he did an admirable job at lunch…thanks Brian!) Anyway, I had a blast meeting everyone, and I’m looking forward to my fourth dopefest in Norfolk in August. Woo Hoo! ---

ok, i’m giddy as a schoolperson. First, I can use Satan in my sig, as he agreed to be my running mate when I go for pres. Second, Auntie Canty kicks major butt for taking me to get to the next watering hole. Third, I love you guys!..D’oh’ microwave is beeping so I must eat my breakfast now Rubes Satan as my running mate. Go Ruby in 98—damn Satan, going to have to rhyme it somewhat different ---

Honestly? I was out way too late at a local street dance the night before. By the time I got up, the dopers meeting was already beginning. Since I’m about an hour away, I blew it off and did laundry instead. Sad, but true. Next time, OK? ---

After a late night at Sommerfest, a long drive back to St. Cloud, and a hellish morning I actually made it to my first ever Dopefest…and had a great time! Drain Bead, honey, you have a sweetheart on your hands…good move on your part. I do hate to blow The Evil One’s cover, but Satan is really a nice guy… Finally figured out how to say canthearya, who really should shave next time so she doesn’t have heat stroke - come on, hon, jeans in that weather? You’re nuts 🙂 Finally met rubes and Lucretia, too, which was a treat…was sorry I couldn’t meet Bluesman as well, but maybe next time. Lucretia, your daughters are beautiful - I was definitely sitting at the wrong end of the table - would have liked to talk to all three of you a bit more… And rubes!!! Dude, you start EARLY. AND you can preach to me anytime, AND I’ll vote for you and Satan. And for all you no-shows…feh. I made it down from St. Cloud, after all, ya lazy bums. But let’s start talking about another Dopefest, shall we? But somewhat later in the afternoon next time, eh? ---

I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it. Believe me, I was whining all day. I really have no valid excuse. My sister begged and pleaded until I caved and agreed to care for my nephew so she could go out. Our server was really nice - we kept making jokes about the fact that half of our confirmed party hadn’t shown up… Finally we told Sara that she could choose a handle from our list of absent attendees - she chose **Silver\_Fire**!
