Painter is an interesting candidate–a lifelong Republican, I believe. He served in a GOP Administration. But Trump offends him to his core, and I gather that he’s not thrilled with what used to be fellow-Republicans, for their enabling of Trump.

He was [chief ethics lawyer](https://theconversation.com/profiles/richard-painter-294278) with the Bush II administration, and has been on the faculty at several universities. He is so upset with what Trump is doing, and what Republicans are doing to enable it, that he has flipped Democrat. I’ve heard him speak. He’s knowledgable and very riled up. I don’t know how liberal he is (as opposed to angry at Republicans).
