Question: Can a mistrial be a verdict? It could be that after several hours some Jurors have let it be known that nothing will change their minds, so it could be that they decided that they will not waste any more time? Or it is that when they announce a verdict that in practice **there is no way** a hung jury is one result now? ---

My understanding is a mistrial would be declared by a judge. A hung jury is possible, but there is no way a judge would let them stop deliberating so quickly. ---
