# Minor error in "Earth" translation

In the answer at

[http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mearth.html](http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mearth.html)

there was a slight error regarding the French translation of the word “Earth” - it should be “Terre”. From the Latin terra, and quite close to the Spanish tierra.

“Mondiale” would mean “worldwide”, when having to do with a female subject (or “mondial” for a male subject - there isn’t really a “it” in French).
