Last year when the minors were shut down, and players were being let go across the league, the Royals committed to paying all of theirs. It paid off - they cleaned up in the draft and post-draft, because players knew the team was committed to their development, and would sign at or below slot.

But I think this move by the Cubs’ affiliate is even cooler. It’s one thing to ingratiate yourself to your talent, another thing to commit to the hourly wage earners. Very very cool of him to do so - I hope it pays off for them as well.

These kinds of things are exactly what the PPP loans were supposed to be for. Curious if they took one or not.
