You know, things that aren’t worth real anger but still bug the daylights outta you.

Mine? Summer colds. I took a short trip and my travelling companion and I both returned home with whacking respiratory infections. Mine morphed into bronchitis, and I feel _lousy_. It’s sweltering hot and humid, for God’s sake. Add on a temperature, sneezing, runny eyes and a rumbling cough and you have real misery.

What’s bugging you lately?

I am with you on that but I consider it a pitting event when I get my summer cold/flu like symptoms. All winter I can stay healthy, nice warm sun, a weekend trip planned to spend time on the beach, and I am hit with something everytime. And the worst part is the summer sicknesses always last longer then the brief winter colds I ever got.

My stupid, wearing-out body. So, I find out I have bursitis in both hips - flared up real good a couple of months ago, and has been lingering a little ever since. I tore my achilles tendon a few years ago, and last weekend, tore it again a little. Oh, and I got a summer cold, too, in between the bursitis and the torn tendon. Crap. I’m 38 years old - I _know_ I am too young to be limping, gimping around like this.

As long as I’m whining…

I’m sicker than two dogs–throat sore, hacking my lungs out, feverish, ache in every joint–and it’s hard enough to just maintain basic sanitation. ‘Should I wash the plate/sheet/towel or just throw it away?’ I don’t want to take care of _stuff_; I just want to die in peace already.

And pesky, picky little _things_ keep breaking. The outside faucet broke. Can’t water the garden, even if I felt like it, because the tap has to be turned off. Plumber call, which means waiting at home for them to not show up. The timer on the washing machine cacked. Another repair call. Even if I’m home, I’m face-down in bed and medicated within an inch of my life. I’d have to kill any repair person who actually showed up.

And television sucks; geuninely, deeply sucks. Even shows that might not suck otherwise.

And those damned summer cicadas won’t stop grinding and whirring away.

I went outside this morning to see the ISS and the Shuttle as it was to pass a little bit over my observed horizon this morning at 6:14.

Well, too much lower level haze! Hell, could barely even make out Mars higher up in the same general area.

Oh well, I’ve seen ISS and other Shuttles before, and am always seeing other satellites while doing my planet watches. Still, it sucks to have no clouds around at all and still no visibility. That’s waht happens in the Summer.

My eyes! My eyes!!

No, seriously - my eyes. As soon as I turned 45, they decided it was time to slack off. And every visit to the optometrist results in stronger and stronger glasses. So it’s true.

I’m turning into my mother.

On the grand scale of my life, it’s not that big a thing. Overall, my health is good, and I’m still able to do a lot of lifting and toting and yard work and stuff. But thread a needle? Read the model number on the back of a piece of electronics? Not likely.

And I’m actually due for another exam and new specs. Gonna make an appointment tomorrow. Stoopit eyes. Stoopit old eyes…

_\<sigh\>_

Pfft. My eyes are doing that now – and I’m 21. Ever since the 3rd grade I’ve had glasses, and my visual acuity has been slowly but steadily dropping since then. But I don’t see why you would have a problem threading needles or reading small print. If your glasses aren’t allowing you to do those things, you need better glasses.

I hate having the hiccups. I ate breakfast about half an hour ago and I’ve been hiccuping since.

To me, they are just about the most annoying thing that a body can do - and it seems basically useless.

Ugh. Time to go try yet another cure.

I’ve had a sinus infection for two years and my doctor has stopped trying to clear it.

All my friends are gone this week in seperate states so I have nothing to do.

I went swimming yesterday so my asthma is quite bad today and walking up stairs makes me tired. I feel so out of shape when this happens, even though I’m really not.

Have you tried eating a spoonful of peanut butter yet? That always works for me (plus, I get to eat a spoonful of peanut butter!)

Okay, this isn’t exactly minor, but I can’t be moved to start a whole new thread about it.

I got a job. (YAY!) That’s the good part.

The bad part is that neither the district HR guy nor my brand new principal can be bothered to return my calls or emails. I may have just wasted three days waiting on a brand new, totally official, still sealed in the envelope transcript because my HR guy would not respond to my email asking if a regular, unenveloped transcript was good enough.

School starts in ONE week. I don’t have a classroom. I don’t know what subject I’m teaching. I don’t know what grade I’m teaching. I have no idea if the district will buy me supplies for my room (I’m guessing not, because - hey - Texas). Mr. Principal hasn’t told me, probably hasn’t decided yet, and is probably so overwhelmed by his new school that I’m one of the last things on his priority list.

_sigh_

In the end, I’m just glad to have a job.

For me: my feet.

I’m on them 12 - 14 hours a day, and try to take care of them. As much scrubbing with a pumice stone (recommended by you guys, in a thread months ago), as much foot powder I put on them, and as good socks I keep on them, they keep peeling, cracking, and bleeding.

I mean, it’s not like I _need_ my feet for much. If I had to get around, I could always walk on the bloody stumps of my ankles. Or better yet, I’d walk only on my knees.

I hate you two. You know who you are. Yeah, that’s right, I’m looking at you two. . . Don’t you dare cross your pinky and ring toe behind your back. I know what you two are up to. . .

Tripler
If you keep acting up like this, I’m not taking you two for a walk anymore.

Word. I’m walking around on two chronically-painful knees (for about 5 years now. I _will_ call a doctor tomorrow, I swear), a thrice-badly-sprained ankle which won’t ever be as steady as it should be, a stiff wrist from a sprain I never let heal properly, and thumbs which tend to dislocate themselves under pressure (such as opening a jar). Also, I’m only 19.

Other whines: It’s not August 23rd yet. On the 23rd I get to go back to school, which is quite literally paradise in every way compared to home. And not minor, but I’m completely screwed for financial aid this year, and need to take out _another_ loan. I’m going to get my degree in four years, _dammit_, money or not!

I tried it. The first week, every time I got out of bed to get a glass of water, I slipped in my own socks and fell on my arse. 😃

Seriously, I’ll give it a shot.

Tripler
The second week, I used udder balm, and found I needed to be milked every morning.

**Tripler** : Me too! I had a thread about it a while ago. Sheer misery. My feet are cracking and peeling like mad. I’ve done the Vaseline, prescription exfoliants, pumice, razors, etc. Right now I’m trying out beeswax and almond oil lotion. We’ll see if that works. It’s become a hobby, picking the strings of skin off my soles. I hate it.
