> Do you mean generally or specifically? I’m having trouble imagining how this would even occur without an odd series of events in which one poster specifically announces they are trans, and that they prefer a particular pronoun, and then some other poster seeing this and immediately defying their wishes to be intentionally spiteful. In which case, it already falls under personal insults. If we are talking generally, there is no universal pronoun for trans people, so I’m having trouble seeing how that would happen. Is this a common occurrence here, or a vague Boogeyman?

It’s not what I would call a common problem, but it does happen.

I mean both generally and specifically. Directly misgendering anyone (whether they are on this board or not) should not be tolerated. Neither should the general “trans women are really men” or the like be allowed.

I can’t be sure, but I think I mentioned it because I’d recently learned that there were about a dozen trans posters who no longer post here because they think the board’s response to transphobia is not swift enough, that posters are allowed to stick around way too long after this. So I wanted to make it clear that my proposed compromise did not include transphobic bullshit.

I hope the banning that **BPC** mentioned will mean those people will be happier to post here.

> I concur. At the best, it’s “whataboutism”- at the worst, male misogynist trolling.

I participated in that thread, and I’m sure he was obliquely referring to me. There’s a very strong argument, based on the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause, that a law that protects girls from genital alterations and ignores boys will be struck down. If that turns out to be the case, then the two issues can’t be neatly separated. It’s quite possible to argue that protecting boys is an essential part of a strategy to also protect girls. That’s not “whataboutism” nor is it “misogyny.”

Apparently it is about ignoring the stated purpose of a thread to push an agenda. _You_ may have a problem with not bringing up subject “B” every time the topic of subject “A” is brought up, but I assure you that it is entirely possible to focus in on one without having to bring up the other. Would it kill you to at least give it a try, or at the very least refrain from participating if you cannot control yourself?

As you wish. I need to take a break from this issue anyway, for the sake of my own sanity.

Imagine someone started a thread in the BBQ Pit entitled “End Violence Against White People.” People start posting objections to the very premise of the thread, asking why the OP is narrowly focused on the concerns of whites when non-whites in America are more likely to be the victims of violent crime. Would the objections posted in that thread be racist trolling?

Thank you _ever_ so much for taking that break.

You know what? This isn’t going to take this thread anywhere we want it to go.

Start a new one if you must. I’ll lock this.
