Is it that I’m getting dyslexic? Is it that I have a Mondegreen Mentality? No telling how many times I’ve almost clicked on a thread to investigate, only to see the thread was about something altogether different from what I saw first. In the spirit of the “Sequential Thread Titles” threads, which ones have you misread the first time? Shades of Roseanne Rosannadanna…(sp?) ---

I can’t think of any examples of thread titles but I do know whenever I see the user name: Bosda Di’Chi of Tricor I think it says Bocus D’or (sic) (the chef’s challenge competition) ---

In the midst of insomnia bout II last week, I opened a thread which I thought was entitled “Would you buy an air-powered cat?” and thought “WTF?” only to find it was “Air Powered **CAR**.” I think the cat thread would have been more fun. ---

A Pit thread once called “The people next door are f_**ing animals!" meaning of course that they are animals (the "f**_ing” existing because, well, it’s the Pit, and we’re allowed to do stuff like that), not that they are having sexual intercourse with animals. I remember like five people came in and said “I misread the thread title too!” ---

That’s not a misread, that’s a naturally occurring ambiguity from the use of the present participle as an adjective, combined with the versatility of the word “fuck”. You might not have felt the ambiguity quite as much if the title had been “The people next door are annoying/aggravating/disgusting animals!” Personally, I have more trouble with mis-typed and misspelled thread titles. Oh, yeah, and I hate those f\*\*\*ing meaningless thread titles, too! ---
