[Why all the push for Jobs Building Submarines?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/why-all-the-push-for-jobs-building-submarines/1000964/) At first I thought this seems ridiculous. How can _Steve Jobs_ build submarines? He died in 2011! Then I considered that maybe “Jobs” is a [metonymy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metonymy) for “Apple Inc.”, one of the largest companies in the world. It _is_ a technology company – maybe it’s branching out into naval shipbuilding. But Apple outsources most of its physical production to foreign countries; will the Pentagon even allow that?
