[Does my dog know he is dead?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/does-my-dog-know-he-is-deaf/1023591)

I did a mini double-take before my bleary morning eyes and as yet uncaffeinated brain successfully parsed the title on second reading. Ghost dog? Some sort of existential canine crisis? Doggie limbo? But all dogs go to Heaven, right?
