I think I saw that on “The Critic” (I’m remembering that ‘alternate ending’ in animation)

I had that same thought in the theater, and actually posted it here somewhere on the boards shortly thereafter.

Great minds, and all that.

Here’s a serious one, which I posted in the Revenge of the Sith thread back in May.

HOW COULD GEORGE LUCAS HAVE LEFT OUT THE GENERAL GRIEVOUS FIGHT SEQUENCE!!! I mean, I _liked_ Revenge of the Sith, and I value the first two prequels also, but this mistake seemed like the only flaw in the movie (well, no, many others were brought up, but to me this was all I could think about). I’m not even a Star Wars guy, but I knew that logically by prequel three they might have a multi-armed dude fight w/ multiple lightsabers, and whaddaya know they did! But then George made a grevious error ( ) by not having him fight, he just gets his arms cut right off and runs and is chased on his stupid circle car and shot and dies.

Obi tracked him down and jumped down in there and it seemed like it was gonna be the most awesome fight ever. The dude had _four arms_ to fight with lightsabers with! And in the Clone Wars cartoons, from what I understand, he kicks mucho Jedi ass, but now he’s been wounded for no plot reason at all except that Lucas didn’t understand that he needed a good ‘primary’ (ahem) bad-guy fight scene like in the first two prequels.

The first two prequel baddies were wimps, too, but they got what I consider fun fight scenes. Grevous’s could’ve been fun, and Lucas buggered it unthinkably. God.

Mace: What ain’t no planet I ever heard of! What language do they speak on What?
Anakin: It’s a planet in the Streinitz 12 system. The Watt language is actually a series of clicks and sputters not unlike the Jawa parlance except…
Mace: Shut the fuck up! I was being rhetorical!

> **Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban** - (brief explanation for those who don’t know: the place where Hogwarts was filmed changed between movies two and three to a much more mountainous locale)- I kept expecting a reference to “oh cool, they’ve done some landscaping over the summer” since, being witches, it’s possible they could. I understand no reference being made to the “new” Dumbledore, but I’ve always thought that Snape should at some point say “Potter… you’re beginning to annoy me” as a nod to Rickman’s _Die Hard_ character.

“By Grabthar’s Hammer, 30 points from Gryyfindor!”
“I’ve got this terrible pain in all the diodes down my left side, Mr. Potter”

[apparently i’m not the only one that thought the Dementors looked like “Undernourished Ringwraiths” (Band name!), scroll down to get to the Dementor references](http://www.livejournal.com/community/m15m/2237.html)

Greetings, salutations, and what up: I will be your new Dumbledore this year, which I’m sure will be fabulous despite the presence of a few hundred undernourished ringwraiths on the premises. Hagrid will be taking over the Care of Magical Creatures class despite having no teaching credentials whatsoever, and also, we have a new teacher, Professor Lupin, to fill our cursed Defense of the Dark Arts spot. Good luck making it through the year alive, Remus!

Thank goodness I’m not the only one to think of that. Although saying it in the middle of a screening of the special edition got equal amounts of laughs and "sshhhhh!"s. (I think I posted this in a thread of “What’s the best MST3K you’ve ever done?”)

Something from the same thread: In the wedding gift scene of Fiddler on the Roof, someone really needed to shout, “Tell them what ELSE they’ve won!”

I’ve been trying to think of one for the Princess Bride, but I must conclude that they did not miss a step at all in that movie. When the opportunity presented itself for a good line, they took it. “You ARE the brute squad.” “Fezzik, tear his arms off. – Oh, you mean THIS gate key.” Ahh… Can anyone think of one for this movie?

“The Critic” may indeed have done it, but SNL did it first- Jon Lovitz was Mr. Potter in the SNL skit, which aired just two weeks after my brother asked me “You think Uncle Billy ever remembered what happened to the money?”

Satchmo- I am sure that hordes of ST:G audience members were mentally tossing out A Clockwork Orange lines all through that movie- especially “Come and get one in the yarbles”- I know I was! 😃

> Another serious one: in _Tombstone_, there’s a reference to the four horsemen of the apocalypse, the most dangerous of which rides a pale horse. I think the allusion you’re supposed to draw is that this is a reference to Wyatt Earp. Yet when you see Kurt Russel (who’s playing Earp), he’s riding a beautiful chestnut horse. Missed opportunity.

What color horse was Doc Holliday riding?

Some puns that would have improved episodes of Doctor Who:

Brain Of Morbius : \<\< He should have quit when he was a head \>\>

Hand Of Evil : \<\< Doctor, living stone I presume \>\>

End Of The World \<\< … which goes to show that it ain’t over til the flat lady singes \>\>

One of my favorites (which was posted by another person on the SDMB, not me) involves the scene at the end of **Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones**. It’s where Anakin and Obi-Wan just got beat by Dooku in a saber-fight. Yoda shows up and _should_ have said… “Kick your ass, I will.” I laughed for a bit when I read that one.

Another is from the scene in **Signs** , where the alien has captured Mel Gibson’s son, and is holding him, spraying him with alien AsthmaCloud out of his fingers. Mel should have screamed… “Give me back my son!”

A bump, because someone **nailed** an opportunity! In the _Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy_ Christmas special, they have Malcolm McDowell playing a vampire. In one scene he’s brushing his teeth and **singing** _Singing in the Rain_! (Those of you who’ve seen _A Clockwork Orange_ will know why this is so funny.)
