There’s a book… “Arc Light” in which a colossal misunderstanding ends up with a limited nuclear exchange between the US and Russia.
Most people are fixated on the thought of all dying in a horrible full scale nuclear armageddon, and few consider the idea that we’d just have a minor armageddon only killing a few million people.
I think we’re all in agreement that its a Good Thing that we’ve had neither.

Well after you’ve launched your load, in addition to it being Miller time, you’ve just broadcast very loudly “Here I am! Come and get me!”, so mission number 1 is to not get your ass blown up by an enemy ship/missile.
Of course now the first four Trident boomers are being converted to carry up to 154 Tomahawks each. That’s some seriously good firepower.
