Ah - missed your note that your kitty is home safe! Glad to see it.
Glad to hear your kitty is home safe!
I saw a tip the other day (and if I saw it here I’m going to be embarrassed–I read a lot of things and don’t always remember where I saw them): If you lose a pet, make a big MISSING sign with a pic of the pet on it and post it in your own yard. People who find missing pets often drive around the neighborhood where they found them trying to find the owner.
Dunno if it would work and I hope I never have to find out, but I thought it sounded like a good idea.
I had a cat go missing. Looked all over, checked pound, etc. Over a year later I got a call from a woman asking if I wanted my cat back! She had found him the day before, in her yard about 4 miles from where he went missing. My vets number was on his rabies tag, she called them and they gave her my number. No idea where he was all that time but he was fat and healthy. Brought him home and he went right to his favorite spot and generally acted like he’d never been gone. The other cat also remembered him and acted like he’d never been gone.
Yeah, we did this. We initialy thought that someone had found him and assumed he was a stray, he’s such a freindly little critter that he will go up to total strangers for a pat.
Our house is in a cul-de-sac with a laneway on one side, a bike path & playing field behind and a road reserve on the other side so there are lots of paths for people to walk on. I made up some posters in photoshop & posted them such that there was no way anyone could go past our house without seeing one.
My wife thinks someone’s had him, seen the signs and just let him go back where they found him.
Glad to see that Dewey made it home! It happened so fast I didn’t even have time to link to the story of my beloved Mao. When cats go roaming, there is always hope!
