Holy crap! What a thread! Excitement, Suspense, Intrigue! I can’t put it down! She’s a nutjob. I wonder why she’s angry with everyone for giving out personal information. This could mean one of two things: 1. She’s absolutely clueless as to why anyone would be looking for and can’t believe the police were involved because, well, she was coming back anyway, right? 2. Or, she’s embarrassed now that she realizes that what she’s done has disrupted so many people’s lives and made her the talk of the town. I’m guessing it’s the first one. In any event, I’m glad that she’s okay so we can see her get her just deserts (mmmm…just desserts :drool: ). ---

Generally speaking, though, when one refers to Kansas City, one usually means Kansas City, Missouri and its outlying metro areas (which, ironically enough, includes both Kansas City, Kansas and other Kansas towns). Topeka is about an hour and 15 minutes West of Kansas City; however, when I think of Topeka, I normally think it being in the Kansas City, Mo metro region–even though it’s big enough and far enough away that (beside it being a state capitol) it’s obviously its own town. That said, if you want to say you’re coming up to KC when you really mean Topeka, you won’t offend me. 😉 Oh, and if you’re coming up, you might as well plan on invading our town while we’re having our next [KC Dopefest!](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=187465) 😃 ---

**DeVena** : Yeah, it’s all Kansas - and Topeka is less than 2 hours away from KCK, so you weren’t that far off. (Actually, if you just say “Kansas City”, some people will think you mean the Missouri side. Not me - I’ve got relatives in KC, KS - but some people.) ---

Mostly, I’m just annoyed that I didn’t have the wit and timing to post that after you. If I had done it on purpose, I probably would have overplayed it. Anyway, after years of driving from Houston to KCK, it’s always the first KC I think of when people say KC. ---

Come on down! We’ll leave the light on for you, and offer you a complimentary continental (read: a stale glazed doughnut and a styrofoam cup of hot goo mined from the tires of a semi) breakfast. I think this may be the end of our tale, folks. The list of “casualties” (i.e., folks who have now been cussed out via phone by MC for their cooperation with the police) continues to grow, and now we’re getting calls on MC’s line from people who are NOT asking simply, “Is MC there?” but rather “Does MC still work there? No? Why not?” :dubious: We have not, however, heard from or seen MC herself. This is the way the story ends, this is the way the story ends, this is the way the story ends, not with a bang, but with a reclusive nutjob who’ll now probably try to sue ME for sharing this drama with 34,000 people. 😉 ---

That’s it? I want drama! I want a screaming hissy fit in the middle of the work area, complete with Spanish curses and flying spittle! I want staplers heaved across the room! I want a quivering boss huddled in the corner, covering his head and moaning, “I didn’t mean it! Auntie Em made me!” I want Skip and Auntie Em to kick her sorry ass out the door, and then toast each other with chocolate martinis! After two multi-page threads, this can’t be it!!! ---
