David Brin used to be a pretty regular writer. He’d publish a new novel every year of two. But as far as I know, his last real novel was _Kiln People_ in 2003 (he’s published some non-novel works since then). And his website is apparently closed down.

So I was glad to see a recent mention that he’s working on a new novel which is vaguely described as an “end of the world” story. But what really surprised me was a mention of a book called _Kiln Time_, which was supposedly a sequel to _Kiln People_ that was published in 2006 (Amazon even lists a specific ISBN, publisher, page count, shipping weight, and a release date of October 27 - while going on to say the book is “currently unavailable”).

There’s virtually no way I would have missed the actual release of this book in 2006. So can anyone tell me what happened?

News to me, and I’ve read most of his stuff.

But his website isn’t down. [www.davidbrin.com](http://www.davidbrin.com) seems to be up and running still. No mention of a sequel to Kiln People, though.

No problems getting on now. But I tried several times yesterday and kept getting “unable to access that URL” messages.

I’d love a sequel to “Kiln People”. I loved the concept of “going Frankie”!
