It’s under discussion right now. We do not allow “proxy posting” on this board. Either it’s you or it’s not. You cannot have a third party posting for you – not from prison or from anywheres else. ---

Honestly I haven’t the time. If it’s been removed for some “rule related” reason, as I suspect, I’m taking it to giraffe boards now. I literally haven’t the time to fight this. I hope that the staff here are at least reasonable enough to leave this message here. Unfortunately being a bit silly I haven’t actually got the RESULT of the puzzle, i.e. the one I put in the original message, saved! It would be nice if someone could message me with that. Although I will just assume GB will allow proxy posting. Edit: That was @musicat ---

IF (and again I stress it’s an IF) I am in prison in a few hours time (and remember I’m going to sleep very shortly) I have no ability to do anything. Just at the very least keep the puzzle solution somewhere the staff can get ahold of it. If I am able to give peopel instructions to email you (i.e. tubadiva) then so long as you have the solution then it’s easy enough to prove. Then you can work out with them at your leisure what to do. ---

I’m sorry for your situation but we’re not obligated to provide you with a forum for your postings from the pokey. It’s entirely possible you would be happier at another site that allows that kind of thing. We don’t. Good luck to you, however this turns out. ---

I didn’t see the original OP, so I don’t know what the “puzzle” refers to, but why would it have to be a proxy posting? Can’t a third party just register and post updates on SL’s status and/or answer questions? Like Santo’s mom did when he was injured in the motorcycle accident? ---

That is apples and oranges, I think. Santo’s Mom posts updates on her own screen name and makes her own postings, she’s not posting FOR Santo Rugger. (More’s the pity.) This guy wants to keep a jail diary on the Straight Dope site. Well, he does if he’s going to jail, which is “unlikely.” We don’t allow that kind of posting here. Essentially he wants us to host his blog for him. ---

The sentencing was deferred for another four weeks, if anyone cares. The main reason was frankly beyond me but case law related, apparently there is disagreement as to whether the opium in particular can be sentenced as if it were straightforward posession, and if not whether this would mean the court’s sentencing powers would be inadequete. Bunch of other little things like that too, but that was the main one. Not good news for me as I understand things. ---
