> Oh, yeah. Barring that, I like to flatten a chicken breast, dip it in an egg wash, then in a Panko/Parmesan cheese mix seasoned with thyme, and pan fry it in a bit of olive oil and butter until just done and brown. Then cut it up into a bowl of orzo, on a green salad.

Yummmm… Or this, minus thyme, plus tarragon, and drizzled with a bit of fresh lemon juice.

Chicken marinaded in lemon juice, olive oil, and garlic, with spices, then sauteed and served with turmeric rice.

Or the way a local Thai restaurant does chicken with green chili and onion.

I eat a ton of chicken. OP, I’m sorry. That sounds like a really annoying situation, even if you are just ranting (and you’re crazy for not liking chicken. 😃 )

I’m sorry… What? When you see breasts you jerk your chicken leg?

(Actually, I’d like a good recipe for jerk chicken.)

Another vote for roast, with a crispy skin. When I was a kid my mom would make chicken with wonderfully-seasoned skin. She also stuffed the chicken with onion, garlic, celery. When we were done with the chicken, she’d pick all the meat off to use in another recipe (either chicken salad or soup normally), then freeze the carcass. It made amazing soup.

I also support Missy’s right to hate chicken. I hate pork chops.

I’m afraid **Missy** isn’t getting the responses she had hoped. They are more of the “I love chicken this way” instead of “I also hate chicken so I feel your pain.” While chicken isn’t usually my first choice I also can’t write it off as something never to have.

The things you describe make it sound like you might like chicken in a few other places where the actual chicken taste is minimal. My grandfather hated chicken (due to working at a chicken factory, as I call 'em), but he would devour the broth used to make dressing. Then again, he had no problem with turkey, so maybe it’s not for you.

I’m sure other Dopers might have other ideas of foods with chicken that don’t really taste like chicken. Though, if you don’t want to try them, I can understand that.

> Yep, roast chicken with crispy skin would get my vote, but it would be a tortuous decision. Chicken Marsala ranks right up there, as does fried chicken.
>
> But I’m totally going to try your hot chicken salad idea. That sounds delicious. Don’t suppose you can give us a ballpark on proportions?

Well it’s not exact. You take about double the amount of chicken that you’d have on a chicken salad sandwich, chop enough onions so that there aren’t too many for your taste, maybe a rib and a half of celery, then cubes of velveeta to your taste - I maybe do 2/3 as much velveeta as I chicken, salt and pepper to taste then add mayo a spoonful at a time and mix it all together until it’s as gooshy as you like chicken salad. Preheat oven to 375, take 2 hamburger buns and put the salad equally on both, wrap each one in foil, seal tight, throw in oven for maybe 20 minutes? I usually check them then to make sure they’re hot all the way through and the cheese is melted
These can cook longer - they’re pretty dense - and they taste the best piping hot.

Thanks! Yes, I didn’t expect a real precise recipe. I don’t cook like that anyway! 😉

I love chicken in all it’s various permutations. But if I had to pick one, it’d probably be chicken breast cut up into chunks or strips and breaded in panko (flour, egg, panko) then fried. At least I could get some variety through the various dipping sauces for it- sweet chili, honey mustard, sweet and sour, ranch, barbecue sauce, buffalo sauce, etc. Yup, panko chicken nuggets or fingers it is.

Like others, I prefer roasted chicken with extra-crispy skin (burned black, in fact—as I like many of my food items).

There was a period in my life when I couldn’t stomach eating chicken, but not because I didn’t like the taste. It was because it looks too much like what it really is: dead animal carcass. I’d feel the same way about beef, if I was served a plate with green beans, mashed potatoes and a tiny roasted cow. ☹

OP, I am concerned about the misplaced anger you direct toward your husband. He can’t help enjoying the foods he likes. You need to direct your anger where it belongs. I suggest you get a live chicken as a pet. Then, whenever your husband insists on having chicken for dinner, kick the hell out of the bird. You will feel better; your husband will feel better; the chicken?—well, he might not feel so good (as a bonus, when he dies, your husband can eat him, too).

As a Filipino, I am constitutionally bound to recommend chicken adobo: chicken thighs, wings and or drumsticks simmered in vinegar and soy sauce with garlic, peppercorns, and bay leaf.

Chicken prepared one way for the rest of my life? Wow, too many choices. Off the top of my head, I’d probably go for would be either jerk chicken, or some type of chicken stir fry, namely Thai (holy) basil chicken. But something spicy and flavor-rich.

Hard to beat a good Cobb salad: crumbled bacon, and sliced hardboiled eggs, and black olives, and et cetera – with grilled chicken over a bed of greens? Yowza.

Seconded. My wife’s a missionary kid who grew up in the Philippines, and learned to cook there. Filipino adobo (distinct from Caribbean or American style) is pretty amazing.

My own candidate: barbeque. Smoke-house style, or else done up myself (more like charcoal-grilled with hardwood charcoal and smoke).

How about a big fine platter of nachos?

With jalapeños and olives held in place by melted cheese on that bottom layer of tortilla chips – and chopped-onion-and-diced-tomato pico de gallo on top of the refried beans, but under some sour cream and maybe a little guacamole – look, you could sandwich some grilled chicken in there to make it a meal, and who’d _notice?_
