I very seldom hear the sound effects that are described in the captions (doors, footsteps, squeaks and clangs, &c). Lady SCAdian does cross-stitch – she’s making new Xmas stockings for her parents. I’ve found a cross-stitch kit of Thelwell ponies on line and am ordering it for her. Finally got my car back this afternoon – over $2600. ☹ They replaced the cracked fuel pump and the also cracked flex hose (the latter, I think, being the main reason it was failing emissions tests), fixed all four brakes, and did a couple of minor jobs while they were at it. \* Too much time in engine rooms without hearing protection. ---

I called my sister to wish her a Happy Birthday, and we had a good talk, and I can see that my main issue now is that I’m in a sort of limbo, with one doc saying one thing after another said something else. I’ve been here before, and it always makes me wish they’d talk to each other instead of using me as a messenger. Eye docs are particularly bad about this. Then my other sister called because she’s having problems all over the place, and I’m her go-to person. All God’s chilluns got problems, nellie, so buck up, huh? **swampy** , I think you were responding to me and not the fabulous **nettie**. I’ll skip doing a Google image search for Brunswick stew in a hog’s head. My experience with a hog’s head is limited to the time a dog dragged one into my yard as a gift (Someone had been butchering.), but it doesn’t seem like you could make Brunswick stew for a big crowd that way. Survived the day the usual chaos, plus there is a system glitch. In addition to our share of the 100k+ packages, the stuff for Doors 57-68 came up “300 slide” , so we had to rescan those too. Brunswick Stew is done, cooled, and in quart containers in da freezer except for what I kept out for eatin’ on tomorrow. I tasted and I done good! **Nellie** got it right this time, yes, I have had a part in makin’ it with the whole hog’s head on my uncle’s farm as a young’un. It was an all night affair and included the imbibin’ of adult beverages. Why yes, my cousin and I (juvenile delinquents and hardened reprobates that we were) did sneak beer whenever possible. Mind you, we were in our teens and well, that’s what teenaged boys do. We also smoked wacky tabakky behind the barn. Then we became responsible, moral, upright, adults and pillars of the community. How borin’! ---

I’m sure that you’ll get another few years of companionship from her. **metal mouse** , as noted above, your mail may be a bit slow because USPO employees are either testing positive or having to quarantine from COVID right now. **shoe** , when you go to FB, search for _mildly offensive_ and you’ll get groups of papercrafters (I follow that one), fiber arts, etc. Thank me later. 😛 I actually left irk before dark today. That was a relief, given the tech issues I battled all day. My desktop took two hours to update this morning. 😮 😮 The next empty computer wasn’t connected to a printer, so the hard copy irksheets that I needed to have to be out on the floor by 7:45 had to be put on a shared drive for my office mate to print. 😮 😮 😮 Almost as bad, the ten key was inoperable. 😡 Then, when my 'puter finally got finished updating, one of the systems that I use throughout the day was unfortunately uninstalled. 😮 😮 😮 😮 I submitted a ticket to IT and my manager submitted one to get me a new desktop. 🙂 I’ll lose the third monitor, but a desktop that actually works the way it’s supposed to will be worth the trade off. On the upside at irk, my leadership team recommended me for a Star award, which comes with a primo parking space for a month. 🙂 Nelson is doing pretty good with his _indoor voice_ training. I’m not sure if he realizes that his “treats” are nothing more than single pieces of his kibble right now. 😛 Stay safe and healthy y’all! ---

Evening all. Shopping was done this afternoon and bills (water and electric) were dropped off this evening, along with filling the gas tank. Since I was so industrious, I awarded myself a Jack’s cheeseburger and fries instead of a healthy salad (Salad will be consumed tomorrow, promise). The little room space heater is toasting nicely, since the computer is in the room farthest from the heating unit. **nellie** , thanks for the hug. I am still planning for my West coast vacation in 2021, COVID-permitting, so I’ll have to make time to buy you lunch and help you run errands, at least for one afternoon. And happy birthdays! **doggio** , no idea what a ‘300 slide’ is, except I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have anything to do with bowling. I know in Washington state the recreational was legalized along with medical. That meant, that when they shut down all non-essential businesses, the dispensaries could stay open as well. Nothing special today (Friday). The last two days were full of meetings and today I have the day to myself to get some work done. Made a loaf of fig and banana bread last night. Saturday’s weather forecast is a bit ominous so I might make springerles tomorrow, now that I found the anise seed. And the store has cinnamon 30% off. Definitely getting some of that. Have to get ready to go to the store now. I do have one meeting at 8:30 and the store’s less crowded before 9:00. Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up anc caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ 'Tis 45 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 70 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for this afternoon. Looks like a band of green and yellow is headed our way from Alabammy on the weather map. Fine by me, as there are no plans to leave da cave today. Matter of fact, much sloth shall ensue. Sup shall be, surprise, Brunswick Stew and rolls. I could make a sallit so I can say it’s all healthy, but don’t know if’n I want to get that radical. **red** no squirrel in this stew, but I have had it with squirrel. I have even had grilled squirrel. Squirrel is actually pretty tasty. I wonder how many times one can write the word squirrel in one post. Squirrel. **Die** happy cookie bakin’! But I figure I must be missing a wine gene or something. If I came across a glass of this stuff and, dying of thirst, took a drink, I’d think it was spoiled. No hints of floral or pear or chocolate or anything - just a slightly acid twist and a _meh_ taste. So I probably won’t become a wino in this life. Today is our HVAC check/servicing. The guy is supposed to call or text with an approximate time. Not that it matters - I have no plans other than continued destruction of the basement. I’ll do what I can while I can, because once I have Roxy again, I won’t be able to do anything. In fact, I need to find out when I’ll have her again so I can plan. SIL is still on admin leave, but they’ve given him extra hours at his second job and that’s what I have to help cover. We want to order a variety of k-cup coffees for **FCD** ’s folks for Christmas, sent directly to them, and I don’t know if I should do it now or wait and risk having the package show up late. Early is better, right? I was going to get them a subscription, but they don’t drink _that_ much coffee - maybe 4 cups a day between them. Plus the clubs seemed really over-priced to me, but I don’t drink coffee, so I have no idea how much it costs. Such a dilemma!!! _\< pose of woe \>_ What does the day hold? Tune in to find out! Morning all. The paper has been rescued from the rain (it has been raining most of the night) and looks like it’ll move out in a couple hours or so, heading for Georgia. Oh the other hand, temperatures are not expected to climb above 50F, so like swampy I plan to bunker up and stay inside. Tomorrow indoor soccer starts at a nearby school gym and I’ll probably be there for 4-6 hours (with breaks) to help out. At least I’ll get some exercise. **FCM** , I always go the ‘earlier is better’ route when it comes to Xmas gifts ordered over the internet. **swampy** , I have a friend who has ‘adopted’ a squirrel to the point it comes into her apartment, sits on her shoulder, and accepts nuts from her hand. She’d be mighty upset to learn that you consider squirrel to be one of the secondary food groups… 😉 😁 **nettie** , at least they should be paying you a bonus for doing the training–it will require extra time and effort, I presume. **shoe** , good news on the Med card. I look forward to your…um…medicated posts… Just got a call from Cook’s Pest Control, they messed up the billing and will now switch me back to annual, should be corrected next week. Instead of just hopping onto the low bridge to get to West Seattle, I have to drive the U-turn route because left turns are a bit problematic. East Marginal Way to the 1st St. bridge, then over to West Marginal Way where the speed limit is 30 mph and there are motorcycle cops just lying in wait. (They get a lot of customers, too.) Repeat on the return trip. Oh, and the 1st St. bridge may be up, so you have to wait for the ship. The bridge situation has really fouled things up. Maybe if we were still in Belltown it wouldn’t be so bad. (I parked in Northgate and took a bus in.) Being on Harbor Island where there’s only one way in or out, and that way is often packed with semis picking up or dropping off loads at the port, and no bridges, makes driving hell. I guess we’re moving to Bellevue next year. I’ll ask the boss if I can just telecommute. ---

Overlygirl is off to her only in-person day of school for the week - she was almost late because she forgot to dry her laundry. I already busted overlyboy, who was watching YouTube during class. He’s since sulked off to his room with his chromebook (he’d been using two laptops - his personal one to “work” (aka, watch YouTube) and his school issued chromebook). Since his school requires that he have YouTube access, I’m debating on whether to follow him or not. Leaning toward not - hopefully his guilt will take care of the rest. The good: overlymom is able to manage her own meds and feedings with her feeding tubes now (yay!) so I don’t receive constant calls asking me how to do things. I still have to do my magician’s trick with her neck, but that’s fine. The sun is shining and the room is quiet. And it’s Friday. A week ago today I was starting to become extremely concerned and would’ve unknowingly been about to take my mom to the ER. And, saving the best news for last, overlymom does NOT need chemo. We were so relieved last night when we got in the car that we both burst into tears.
