I agree that it’s a pretty readable sci-fi book – it saw me through a lazy summer back in the 1980s. I don’t remember any of the characters’ names, but I remember one of the aliens trying to tell another of the aliens early in the book that humans are “sentient beings,” and the first alien not believing it (or not caring or something.) Anyway, I thought it was a great take on colonialism and racism.
