As with other mix album challenges, your rules are as follows:

1. Put together a mix album of songs that meet the challenge criteria.
2. You must have at least eight songs, and having ten to twelve gets you max credit.
3. You cannot have two songs by the same artist, although artist cross-pollination is okay (you could have one song by the Beatles and one by John Lennon as a solo artist, but not two by the Beatles.)
4. The songs must be at least moderately well known; no answers from your brother’s screamo band’s self-released EP that sold 496 copies.

But there’s a new rule: A PRIZE! In every song challenge, if we have at least 20 entries, I will award points to the three posters who in my estimation have put together the best combinations of songs. The judgment is purely subjective, but will be based on having songs from a broad range of pop/rock styles, time periods, and original or smart song choices. Note that I have very broad musical taste and tolerate almost anything. You will not impress me by avoiding popular bands and just going with bands that “didn’t sell out” but using the same acts over and over won’t impress me either. Be funny, be original, twist the challenge a little if you need to.

I’ll keep doing these and the person with the most points after 15 challenges (each thread will be adjudged complete after 7 calendar days, but doesn’t count at all unless there are at least 20 entries) **gets a free year of SDMB!**

This week’s challenge:

**Compile a mix CD of songs with titles that include a number, but NOT the numbers one or two.** They can include those digits if they are part of another number; a song entitled “Wilt Chamberlain Had 21,000 Girlfriends” is okay, but “One Is The Loneliest Number” or “Two Hearts” are not permitted.

We did this category before but let’s do it again.

Now, I know you were looking for “a broad range of rock/pop styles,” but for some reason, at first, all I could think of was country music. (No, I don’t know why either.) Anyway, after coming up with a few, it became a challenge–how many numbered country songs (or at least, numbered songs by country artists) could I come up with at all? So, here’s some of what I came up with:

Six Pack Summer–Phil Vassar
24 Hours from Tulsa–Gene Pitney
He Would Be Sixteen–Michelle Wright
Twenty Years Ago–Kenny Rogers
My Next Thirty Years–Tim McGraw
9 to 5–Dolly Parton
It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere–Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett
Life #9–Martina McBride
Beer Thirty–Brooks & Dunn
Six Days on the Road–the Sawyer Brown cover (1997) of the 1963 Dave Dudley song
18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses–Kathy Mattea
