Miyazaki has a new movie. The Wind Rises

Ah OK. I have requested mods to close this thread. We can continue in the other thread.

According to Wiki, Miyazaki’s mother suffered from TB when he was a child. Also his father ran a business which supplied rudders for the Zero.

It’s being reported that, yet again, Miyazaki has announced his retirement. The Wind Rises is to be his final film.

This quote of him reflecting on his work was in Entertainment Weekly:

“I wanted to convey the message to children that this life is worth living. The message has not changed.”

I love that he created Spirited Away because he watched some of the crap his granddaughter(I think) watched with her friends. He realized that kids at that age need some actual quality entertainment, so he created his masterpiece.

He’s the best family/children’s animator of all time. I’d put Satoshi Kon right up there as the greatest animator, though, due to Paprika…one of the greatest films of all time.
