I was watching a court TV show today and was surprised to find that scammer and rotten liar of phone psychics, Miss Kleo (SP deliberate) brought up! This little piece of nasty mouthed white trash, with 3 kids by 3 different fathers, one of who is not paying child support and pg with a 4th by one of the various Dads, was being sued by an exfiance for, among other things, a huge phone bill, upon which was a **$400** call to MIZ CLEO. **$400 bucks!** I figured that out to nearly 3 1/2 hours of call!! She did comment that the ‘SY-KICK’ did talk rather slow, and you just know it was not the real Miss Cleo chatting with them. Then the judge commented that, out in the Western US, Miss Cleo had been convicted of unethical business practices. Just how much does it take to not only shut this bitch down, but to convince people that there **are no real phone psychics**?? Her massive marketing scam has been exposed along with how her company hires ‘phone psychics’ off of the street, who have no psychic powers at all and then teaches them how to answer the phones and how to keep customers on the line so that they can charge more, yet the dumb b\*\*\*\*\*ds still call, eager to get fleeced of their hard earned cash! Now Miz Kleo is on TV wailing about how she is under attack by unbelievers but how she will keep providing a service for those in need and I’d like to punch her in her nasty face. Her and that fake island accent. Don’t we have laws to get rid of such folks who fleece the stupid and the terminally dumb? Even with that tiny, hardly readable ‘for entertainment only’ line she flashes across her ads, there has to be a law to get past this legalized con artist. Isn’t it discrimination to prey only on a certain section of people who are too stupid for their own good? Some of her commercials target blacks, so why aren’t the blacks screaming discrimination about it all? The screamed it when the cigarette and alcohol industries put out black specific ads to sell their products better in black communities. ALL of these psychic ads need to be abolished because all of them scam the feeble of mind and the desperate. How do our laws allow this and why do we put up with it? ---

I gotta tell ya! I don’t have a problem with Miss Cleo at all. I love her commercials, they are very entertaining! Okay, that disclaimer could be a little bigger and maybe there should be a law about that. I have no patience for people stupid enough to rack up $400 of Miss Cleo calls, however. I once saw in Woolworth’s the following item: Good Luck spray. It had disclaimer that read: “contains no supernatural powers”. Are there really people that stupid? ---

My HUGE problem with her dumb ass ads are this: She puts the little disclaimer on there as required, but speaks as though she is for real. Its like, hey, you know I am real… and you understand, I have to put that little disclaimer up because of the law… but we all know I am for real. Perhaps a lawyer could weigh in on this question: When selling securities there is a law that almost perfectly parallels this. It is explicitly illegal to rely on prospectus warnings of investmest risk. i.e. There have been people out there telling potential clients not to worry about those “standard legal warnings” they MAKE us put on all this printed material… Hey, this is a SURE thing. And then take all their money. Now, that line “hey, the warning was their on paper” doesn’t cut it at all if they verbally represented the product inconsistent with what was on the paper. Anyway, it seems like maybe this same law could be used against CLEO. ---

If you’re [ul] A) stupid enough to believe in psychics B) further stupdid enought to believe that Miss Cleo **is** one, even though she’s running a stupid phone-psychic business instead of, say, investigating murders or winning lotteries and C) further yet, stupid enough to believe that you’ll actually talk to THE ONE AND ONLY Miss Cleo when you call [/ul] I think you deserve to be fleeced. Then again, my opinions aren’t generally all that popular. ---

I suppose you’re all pretty much right, but she and others like her just chap my arse. I hate it when these legalized fleecing operations show up on TV or anywhere else. Even the 1-800-SEX lines are better than them! I’d like to see tighter and tougher advertising legislation where they have to make that ‘For entertainment only’ legend a lot bigger, plus have to say it several times in their promos and have to tell the callers that when they call. ---

I agree 100% with Beelzebubba on this one. I have no sympathy for the terminally stupid. If memory serves, some locality once passed a law in an attempt to rid themselves of these psychic leeches that said something along the lines of “It is illegal to claim to be able to predict future events in exchange for money.” It had to be undone when it was pointed out that this would put the TV weatherman, among others, out of a job. ---

Well, she sends me emails telling me to call her _again_! I never called her in the first place. She’s so psychic that she was already asking me to call her again _knowing_ that I will call her a first time at some point in the future. This was shocking news. I never thought I would ever call Miss Cleo, but obviously at some point I will because she’s already telling me I should call _again._ Her only problem is that she’s too psychic for her own good. Well I have some friends who are terminally stupid in some areas and I hate to find them getting fleeced whether by MIZ JERKWAD (Cleo), or the Herbal Breast Enhancer. It’s like the old remailer scam, work at home stuffing envelopes – and I know a police detective and his lieutenant police wife who fell for that one. My own mother fell for some scam that promised her a couple of chef quality potato peelers, luckily the scam was under $20, and when she got the items they turned out to be small, plastic potato peelers with IRON blades. (For you who never peel a spud, iron blades rust! They’re cheap to produce but unless you take nitpicking care of them, they rust away.) What she got was worth about 50 cents each. I know a whole bunch of real nice, but stupid people, who are stupid in certain areas, like those who buy RONCO products in the first year they are offered, ignoring the fact that in the second year they’ll be half price and available in Kmart and Walmart, and the third year, sell for 1/3 the original price. By the 4th year, they’ll be in garage sales and offered on E-bay. I’d like all scams off of the TV.
