Well, Opening Day is this weekend. Yay! I thought i’d see if any of our resident baseball fanatics were interested in a competition of sorts, based on predictions about the upcoming season. This is based loosely on a similar competition that my Fantasy League does each year. Given the nature of this as an internet competition among people who only know one another through the Dope, the winner will be awarded the Joe Morgan Intangible Trophy. Please give your predictions in the following categories: **Teams:** 1. AL East winner (10 points) 2. AL Central winner (10 points) 3. AL West winner (10 points) 4. AL Wild Card (10 points) 5. NL East Winner (10 points) 6. NL Central winner (10 points) 7. NL West winner (10 points) 8. NL Wild Card (10 points) 9. AL Pennant winner (15 points) 10 NL Pennant winner (15 points) 10. World Series Champion (25 points) **Players:** 1. AL MVP (10 points) 2. AL Cy Young (10 points) 3. AL Home Run champ(10 points) 4. NL MVP (10 points) 5. NL Cy Young (10 points) 6. NL Home run champ (10 points) 7. Rookie of the year (10 points) **Misc. fun stuff:** 1. Player with longest hitting streak (10 points) 2. Pitcher throwing a no-hitter (10 points) 3. Winning league, All-star Game (3 points) 4. AL player who will be traded during the season (5 points) 5. NL player who will be traded during the season (5 points) 6. Manager who will be fired during the season (7 points) 7. Manager who will have the most ejections this season (5 points) Total: 250 points **Important note:** When giving your answers, please just give the question number and then the answer. Like this: 1. Orioles 2. Royals 3. Athletics etc. Don’t copy the category names. This will make it easier for me to collate and tabulate the entries, and to add up the results at the end of the season. ---

Before anyone criticizes me, I’m doing this for fun, and not because I hold myself out to be any kind of expert. If you’ve been reading my posts long enough, you already know I’m no expert. 🙂 1.
