Baseball announcers haven’t followed that rule for as long as I can remember, including during many no-hitters that actually happened.

Our local broadcasters don’t mention them.

The “don’t mention it” rule for no-hitters applies to teammates. Announcers and fans can talk about it all they want.

Local broadcasters follow the rule as long as “their” team is the one throwing the perfect game/no hitter. If it’s their team not hitting, they’ll mention it.

Hey I don’t care if they want to mention it in passing, once an inning even, but when every 18 seconds you’re describing the magnitude of post-season no-hitters, and covering the screen with no-hit graphics, and singing “Tigers have a combined no-hitter” to the tune of “Hey Jude”…well it all seemed a bit much is all I’m saying.

I have this recurring nightmare, in which one of two horrible things happen: (1) McCarver unretires and continues announcing, or (B) McCarver is replaced by Ken “The Hawk” Harrelson.
I’m not sure which version is worse.
