# MLB: 2013 Postseason

I like Hawk but he probably isn’t ready for the national stage. There hasn’t been a good national broadcast team since Joe Garagiola/Tony Kubek. Let’s hope Fox finds someone good to replace McCarver or, even better, MLB finds a better network.
One thing the game 2 Tiger choke did was make the Wolverine fans forget the choke against Penn State. Not time to push the panic button yet, but Leyland needs to stay with the hot hand on the mound and let a guy pitch until he can’t pitch.

Okay, if I had to choose between Joe Morgan and Hawk Harrelson, I’m picking Joe Morgan.
If I have no choice but Hawk Harrelson… I’ve heard hockey is fun.

Hey, you can’t hang it all on Benoit. It took all three preceding Tiger relievers to bequeath those runners, and of course Porcello to allow the two at the end. A real team effort by the bullpen. 🙂

The TV and Radio feeds aren’t sync’d up. We’d get the audio 6-7 seconds before the video. ☹ :smack:

Which is the worst sync possible, since if it was the other way around, you could (if you had a DVR) just pause the TV for 7 seconds and try to do it manually!
Anyone with [MLB.tv](http://MLB.tv)? I seem to remember from a few years ago that they don’t have the rights to broadcast the playoffs - is that right?

I do.
Video-wise, they only offer audio feeds while the game is playing. Once it has concluded, you can watch the games at a later time. They also offer some sort of post-season package for an additional charge, but I didn’t opt for that, considering I can see all the games for free anyway.

I don’t get TBS, so I tried to sign up for the postseason games. I couldn’t persuade the website to take my money, though, so I’m still just listing to radio broadcasts.
(Stupid American League, taking up all of the broadcast TV slots.)

I had the same problem. I’m an [MLB.TV](http://MLB.TV) subscriber and I tried to pay the $5 for [Postseason.TV](http://Postseason.TV), but I could never get the website to work. I gave up after the first couple of days.

Hee. [This is funny](http://deadspin.com/brian-kenny-loses-his-shit-on-hawk-harrelson-472678674). I especially enjoy him pointing out how Sabremetrics helped the Red Sox in 2003 and the Rays.
Brian Kenny is by far my favorite guy on MLB Network.
Thinking of them, I have another nominee to replace Tim McCarver who would have me shrieking in horror: Mitch Williams. I might have to lie down. 😃

Scherzer said he was done in the 7th. He said as much coming into the dugout. Thanks, super sensitive microphones!

After that grand slam, a run was charged to four different relievers. I can’t remember the last time that’s happened.

Thanks, I missed that. Still, I’m not sold on Benoit as a closer. Of course, nobody else on the team is the next coming of Rivera.

They alternate leagues each year…and I heard that, starting either next year or in 2015, Fox is moving its non-World Series postseason coverage to Fox Sports 1.

Postseason overmanaging, making moves just because of a fascination with matchups. Drives me nuts. Leyland especially should know better. A guy’s getting 'em out, leave him in. You don’t \*have \*to get the entire roster into every game.
That said, that was one of the beautiful moments October was meant for. You could see it in Papi’s eyes, that he was going to take that swing the moment he saw a hittable pitch.

Depends on the individuals. All the Boston announcers observe the superstition, er, “tradition” scrupulously, no matter who’s doing it or where. Sometimes the circumlocutions get pretty comical, too. The camera closeups of the line score, or of the pitcher getting pointedly ignored in the dugout, get the point across even when they’re not not-saying the NH-word.
I don’t know any fans who would knowingly flout the tradition, either.

Yeah, I haven’t studied the Tigers’ bullpen, but there’s no guarantee they have anyone better than Benoit. Still, leaving in a pitcher who says he needs to come out of the game would be worse than bringing in even Chuckles the Bullpen Clown to pitch.
