So, the World Series starts tonight. For winning the All-Star game the American League team was apparently given a 1-0 head start, which seems a bit steep of a reward for an exhibition game, but Bud’s just crazy like that.
It will be interesting to see if the kid Wacha can hold up under the pressure. Losing both games in Boston isn’t a death knell, considering the 3/4 spots in the BOS rotation, but it’s certainly not ideal.

The Cards also lost the game, as well as being beaten. I don’t think we’ll see that many mistakes from them again.

I’m thinking about watching TV with the sound off, leaving the garage door open and tuning in the satellite feed of the Sox broadcast on my car radio (with the volume cranked way up).

I’ve basically come to the conclusion that almost all MLB pitchers use some combination of sweat and sunscreen to get a better grip on the ball. I didn’t see very many “wait, a balls shouldn’t do that” pitches from Lester last night - just a bunch of pitchers pitches and bad hitting.

You can get a radio broadcast a number of ways that don’t involve dealing with your car. I actually got a notification on my Kindle Fire last night from TuneIn that the game was going to be starting soon. Any radio station that carries the game, streams online, and isn’t technical enough to actually stop the stream during the game should work.
I haven’t tried streaming directly from XM (sorry, SiriusXM, old habits die hard) using my computer for the game. In my experience, the radio call was significantly behind the action on TV when I used to do it and didn’t have a DVR.

I heard a soundbite of Matheny today kind of complaining about the umpires overtuning the blown call in the 1st inning. He said it was bad timing to roll out this umpire conference thing. Haven’t umpires been discussing terribly blown calls like that calls? I don’t believe that’s the first ever instance. Maybe on that particular play.

He \*had \*to go out there and he had to say _something_, after the call went against him. I’ll give Matheny a break on that one.
If the Sox stretch their Series win streak from 9 to 12, the lasting image may well be Wainwright’s goofy face watching that pop-up fall in front of him. But Earl Weaver was right, “Momentum is tonight’s starting pitcher.”

Agreed. I understand that from a “how it looks” perspective, he had to go out there and act indignant. But after the game, when he had certainly seen the replay, to say anything about the decision to overturn the original bad call just seemed ridiculous.

My question would be: who were they bidding against? Nobody but possibly the Yankees would have matched that, and frankly I doubt even they would have gone that high for Lincecum given their current subpar, aging pitching staff.

Sounded like it was MASHUP of Patriotic Songs.
Starts Singing _America the Beautiful_ and then sings the **Star Spangled Banner**.
With James Taylor it could have been planned or a total brain fart. Who knows

I’m a little curious as to what the MLB Fan Cave actually is, but the commercial has made me never want to actually find out.
And how close was that ball to going out? Glad to see the Cards cash in on the triple.
