It’s amazing what the Red Sox have accomplished, with the help of unheralded pickups like Whitlock and Hernandez.

I don’t think they have the shutdown pitching or defense to go much further, but it’s been fun to watch.

If they have to go to Robles or Barnes out of the bullpen in a tight spot, I’ll have picked a bad month to quit sniffing glue. 🤪

I’ve merged the two threads back together while awaiting a game room mod to decide on what to do about @asahi’s posts last night. Three of his posts were flagged.

In the meantime until a Game Room Mod makes a decision, @asahi, you are not to post in this thread.

Sure, here’s the result of my mediocre Excel skills:

Thanks for the calculations and lists. Good to see.

As for Giants @ Dodgers, it’s Walker Buehler going tonight on short rest, and if they win it’s Julio Urías going in game 5.

[Buehler threw 99 pitches at Friday’s Dodgers loss](https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SFN/SFN202110080.shtml).

[Urías threw 72 pitches at Saturday’s Dodgers win](https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SFN/SFN202110090.shtml).

The Astros win their half of the ALDS, three games to one, after beating the White Sox 10-1 this afternoon.

The Sox seemed to stumble down the stretch this year (in part due to some untimely injuries), and their pitching staff, which had been very good earlier in the season, got hammered by the Astros in this series.

And… the Astros advance.

I’m cheering for them because of Dusty Baker.
I’m cheering for the Red Sox too.
I’m cheering for the Giants most of all!!

It is way too early, but if the Red Sox and Giants advance to the end then my brother, a Sox fan, and I have agreed to go to two games, one in SF and one in Boston\*.

The last World Series game I went to was with him in 2007, the Red Sox and the Rockies in Denver. Game 3.

\* — man, that will be pricey!

> The Sox seemed to stumble down the stretch this year (in part due to some untimely injuries), and their pitching staff, which had been very good earlier in the season, got hammered by the Astros in this series.

Famous last words:

“All we have to do is execute pitches and they can’t hit them anyways.”

-White Sox reliever Ryan Tepera, after Chicago’s game 3 win at home, suggesting that Astros hitters were ineffective on the road because they couldn’t engage in “sketchy stuff”.

Final today from Chi: Houston 10, Chicago 1.

Did they forget the 2019 World Series where the Astros won 3 road games in the middle of their scandal?

And… the Dodgers draw first blood.

ETA: can Walker Buehler come through and pitch well and go deep into the game?

The Braves knock the Brewers out, 3 games to 1. Milwaukee had largely gotten it done with pitching, rather than hitting, during the regular season, and their not-great hitting showed during the series – today’s game was the first in the series in which they had scored more than 2 runs, and the Braves had shut them out in games 2 and 3.

Congratulations to the Dodgers. It’s down to one game on Thursday: win, or go home.

Logan Webb needs to bring it!

Go Giants!
