Cubs after 108 years. Following the last Cubs series win 108 years ago the Republican William Howard Taft defeated the Democrat William Jennings Bryan in the 1908 Presidential election. Last last win by Cleveland was 68 years ago when the Democrat Harry Truman pulled an upset win over the Republican Thomas Dewey. ---

We can no longer say that the last Cubs championship was closer to the John Adams administration than to the present day. And that’s a good thing. ---

In the year that my great-great grandfather died at age 35, and my great grandfather quit school at age 16 to support his family, the Cubs won the World Series that fall.
