And the Birds walk off on a wild pitch (or maybe a passed ball).
Woohoo!

Alas, the Bay is foul territory.
As someone who lived in Baltimore for 8 years, i did know that. But i was searching for a symbolic landmark that non-locals would understand, and “Bromo Seltzer tower” might not have worked so well.
Note: When playing the Yankees, don’t try to run against Aaron Hicks.
That was amazing. There was almost no arc at all on that throw; it’s like it came out of a gun.
And laser straight to boot. I can’t get that kind of distance and accuracy out of my driver - forget throwing it.
So, anyone catch Arrieta’s no-hitter last night? When i saw it was in progress, i tuned in and watched the last three innings. Good stuff.
It’s a little crazy to me that it happened in such a blow-out game. Plus, 2 in 11 starts!
And the Reds make a funny.
The Cubs game last night was the most amazing, dominating ballgame I’ve ever watched. Go Cubs go!
David Ross caught the no-hitter*.
It was a nice touch to his career. This is his last season, and he’d never caught a no-hitter in his 15 year career.
*don’t you hate smart-ass answers to sincere questions? If so, then you’re on the wrong message board.
Ramon De Jesus Ferrer became the first Dominican Republic-born MLB umpire when he umped the Cleveland-Detroit game tonight.
In the “stuff that almost never ever happens” category…the Yankees’ Jacoby Ellsbury had a straight steal of home today.
Before the game, Reds announcer Marty Brennaman commented how the Cubs’ offense was lackluster, because their batting averages were pretty low. The other man in the booth pointed out that batting average wasn’t a very good metric, because look at how the Cubs lead the MLB in runs scored. Marty didn’t want anything to do with that argument.
In other words, Marty Brennaman is a really shitty announcer who needs to retire.
He was so butthurt at the Cubs fans in the ballpark cheering “Let’s go Cubs”, it was a beautiful thing. “Enough already!” says he. What a jerkface.
I live in Indy, and we get the Cincy broadcast on the radio. He’s just a cranky old man now. He apparently used to be quite good.
I was at a game around 1957-8 when Vic Power of the Indians stole home twice. The second time was the winning run in an extra inning game (11th maybe?). They were playing Detroit if I recall correctly. Now I’m going to have to go look that up and see how good my memory of it is.
Your memory was incredibly good. He did it on August 14, 1958. The only detail that you missed is that the second instance occurred in the 10th inning.
I watched the entire game on TV. What surprised me is that he spent so much time on the bench while the Cubs were scoring 16 runs, and still remained fairly sharp. (He walked four, after all.)
